Man, Brett Maher sucks.

Hunt and Legrone probably won't be back anytime soon, and most likely never.

@krc1995 already taught my daughter (5) the palm of your hand in the nose. Unfortunately a little boy twice her size and age pushed her down and sat on her pinning her down and she taught him what I taught her, there was a parent teacher conference already. He bled she got in trouble and daddy was proud and informed her she did the right thing.

@JJ Husker I wasn't gonna go there, but I completely agree. It doesn't excuse the actions of Hunt or Legrone, but the girl was fully aware he invited her over to have sex, and she went to his place anyways, sat on his bed with him, and apparently didn't say no when he started to touch her... I'd be interested to read the full testimony

As the hubby of Gabby Union, Dwyane Wade is going to be in Lincoln. There are rumors that Lebron might be joining him in Lincoln this week. Lebron is supposedly a big Ohio State football fan, growing up in Akron.

@RedSavage I think that's who it is.

Dedrick Mills going with "The Program" move and carrying a football around with him all week. I appreciate the fact he understands how important ball security is.
-
@TonyStallonithat's kind of the point. He's inviting anyone and everyone to knock it out, and he needs to learn to hold onto it.
Gotta love the determination from the kid. Hope others take ball security just as serious going forward.

Luke Gifford made the Cowboys roster. Good for him! Too bad he was so wasted in the Riley years.
-
Northwestern d-lineman with a dirty hit on Stanford's QB right before halftime. He wasn't even given a targeting penalty.

Are we sure Jeff Brohm is a great coach?

The return of college football also means the return of the Surrender Cobra!

Did my annual online shopping for new Husker gear last night. I hate buying stuff without trying things on, but it has to be done when buying Husker gear from out of state.

About 5 seasons ago I found the most amazing Husker shirt ever...It was long sleeve...white...thermal...with Herbie on it and sort of washed out... My dong reached such length that I dare not discuss it...
It arrived at my house...and...it was not white but cream. I almost cried but I manned up and contacted the place...alas they were here an Omaha and told me to just stop in and exchange it...so I went...it was just a big warehouse and I walked in and found a dude to help me. He took me to the shelf where the shirts were and guess what...THEY WERE ALL CREAM!
I was so sad...I still wear it but it just isn't the same.

Dang, Severe's show on the OWH is coming to an end. I"m not surprised, given some cryptic tweets he has sent out recently, but I have enjoyed listening to him. It sucks the show won't be around for football season.

@ColoradoHusk Up here in MN, they have 1 show that talks a lot of sports. The morning show does some sports but they are across the board it has made them VERY successful. I found myself getting fairly bored at times with 1620 because the same 4 stories are talked about by all the shows. I get Husker football has to be the driving factor but I think a good mix of shows helps break it up. Have one show that is heavy sports/heavy guests. One show that is more goofy(think Schick and Nick) and one that maybe goes more serious topics(cant get too political). KFAN up here in MN does that and they have some of the most successful shows in every timeslot.
1620 was at its beak when it had schick/nick and Kugler/Severe. They were very different shows in some aspects but were able to capture their audience. -
@Minnesota_husker @ColoradoHusk
Being different is exactly what I appreciate about Josh/John compared to the other two. There show is much more wide ranging, and as I said earlier, though he's not my favorite kind of host, Josh is very good.

Brett Maher is not having a strong training camp for the Cowboys so far. He might be on thin ice to keep his job for this season. Kickers can go from great to "bad" so quickly.

@HuskerNBigD Thank you for what you did to your body
-
@ColoradoHusk no biggie. Just waiting for that Friday phone call from lower heaven.

Watching the live stream of Nebrasketball in Italy right now. I have no idea who any of the players are, but they look long and athletic. The team looks like they haven't played together much, but they push the tempo a lot and half-court sets involve a lot of guys out on the perimeter to create space for a deep post-up or drive and dish.

I found an online hack for Chrome which turned my Twitter feed back to the old format. It's great! Sorry, I can't remember the hack, but I am sure you can find it online.
-
@Mavric shared it in another Status. It's a Chrome (and FF) extension. I have to refresh to turn it on every time I open a new browser, but that's not much of a hardship.

Bubba Starling getting called up to the big leagues. It's been a long road, but that is great news for him.

Scottsbluff native Nate Lashley has a 6-shot lead after today’s 3rd round in the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. He got in the field as an alternate, and is one round away from a life changing PGA Tour victory.

Erstad stepping down as NU baseball coach. Wow.
-
@Minnesota_husker preferably one that has a CWS-quality team two years in a row in a non-P5 conference, but isn't invited to the tournament for mercurial reasons?
Or am I reading too much into this?

Jalen Hurts to Oklahoma. Didn't expect that.

This is a weird spot. I've never been overly impressed with Hurts' ability to read through progressions or deliver the ball effectively. Maybe that won't matter much given Riley's ability to scheme dudes open plus the general lack of defense in the Big XII. I have zero doubts on him as a runner though. Who knows, maybe I'm dead wrong here.

It's being reported that Kyler Murray is going to forego baseball and enter the NFL draft. I know that most people will think "why turn down all that baseball money", but since Murray is a QB, he can probably earn more in the NFL, than in baseball.
If he's drafted near the top of the 1st round he will get a guaranteed $20-30M in his rookie contract (and at least $10M if he's anywhere in the first round). If he is halfway successful, he will be looking at $150 guaranteed in the NFL after 5 years.
Also, NFL QB's don't get beat up like they used to, so there isn't the physical damage which some people argue for baseball.

Football is the far better sport. Lots of $ either way and he picked the sport that's more fun to play. QBs also get a lot more attention than any position in baseball other than maybe pitcher but maybe not even pitcher.
Baseball isn't as bad for the health (despite it possibly being safer for QBs now) so that's the only real negative, imo.

How funny is that Kliff Kingsbury will have to resign as USC OC in order to interview for HC jobs in the NFL. Also, how odd is that Kingsbury can be fired from a middle of the pack Big 12 team, but be hired as a NFL head coach the same season.
-
Denver news guy Tweeting that Zac Taylor is being considered for the Denver Head Coaching job, and Gary Kubiak would be his OC with Gary's son, Klint (such an unstable name), would be the QB coach.
Sipple also commented that if Taylor does get a HC job, that it's possible he may look for Greg Austin to be his O-line coach. Not sure if Austin would be interested in leaving Lincoln right now, but that would be a nice gig.

Zac's games against CU were some of the few bright spots during the Callahan era. However, most Bronco fans are not dedicated CU fans, so they wouldn't care. CU has very few dedicated fans of any sort. Also, Kubiak was not fired, he stepped down a year after winning the Super Bowl. I could see Kubiak coming back if his health has improved, and as a Bronco fan, I would like it.
