  1. The OP was exactly as I imagined when I seen the thread title. God bless you new guy. Please prepare yourself for the inevitable realization that Nebraska isn't going to win the game

  2. Oh good lord. A bunch of you are headcases who don't know how to take a joke.

  3. I'm sure if you look at UCF they do not abandon the run when it nets 1-2 yards....They scheme throughout the game and adjust. Their 2 QB's are throwing at 68% and 83% IIRC. That's not bad. We are currently at about 50%...... 12 guys have rushed the ball. Averaging 5.8 per carry. Their top 2 backs average 9.2 and 7.7 respectively. It appears they know how to run the ball efficiently. I'd take their offense in a heart beat.

  4. On the where we are topic... Why does every CFB team I watch seem so far ahead of Nebraska? I watch about 1 to 3 games per week (or portions thereof) in addition to the Husker’s games and I’m convinced every team I’ve watched this season would take us behind the woodshed. Today’s edition is Clemson-Syracuse. Are we really that bad or do I have some weird dissatisfied fan thing going on?

  5. Sometime right before 7:00PM, the video boards go dark, the familiar music starts in the stadium. The fans start clapping and their hearts start beating a little faster. Their happy to be there to watch, but, all know that by 10:30 it will be all over by getting their butts kicked by OSU......but, as thoughts of that are going through their heads, the familiar bright spot on the video screen starts flashing.....music gets louder.......THEN.......IT HAPPENS.......the video shows who is leading the team out of the tunnel....WHAT????? It's none other than Scott Frost himself. The crowd goes crazy. The stadium is shaking from the excitement. Scott leads them onto the field and proceeds to lead the team on to one of the most inspired wins in football history, Nebraska doesn't lose another game this year. They then go undefeated next year to win the national championship. Scott Frost instantly is put into the college football hall of fame as a coach and still leads Nebraska to multiple national championships over the next 20 years. PS.......At the end of the game when the crowd is worn out from singing "Let Me Clear My Throat", the video screen flashes to showing Riley and his wife driving down the interstate in a Winnebago with his bicycle tied onto the back. Mike looks at the camera and winks....then drives off into the sunset.

  6. Your only knock on him is that he's at Iowa State? Ohio State's AD spent a stint at ISU, I'm assuming they didn't discount him simply because he live in Ames for a while.

  8. UCF is 25th in the country in rushing. Nebraska is 79th in the country in rushing. And UCF has played two fewer games. UCF also has a better passing game that is the second most efficient in the nation. UCF offense > Nebraska offense and it isn't even close.

  9. Its half time. Were down by 5 touchdowns..............a voice comes from rileys locker room office, its rimmington and hes had enough and fires riley and co on the spot. Huskers come out from the locker room with a sort of new swagger to them. Following up behind them is none other than Jim (the Vest) Tressell. Urban Meyer is stunned he drops his clipboard and gum at the same time, the crowd is going f'ing bananas at this point. And not to be outdone but Tom Osborne and Les Miles follow up behind him. Tom says to Jim, so you got a plan, to which Jim smiles at tom and says, this is your world homes im just living in it. There are bending the bleachers there jumping up and down so much, grown men are weeping. Les and Tom grab the play book and go over what needs to be changed and just rip out most of it. Les grabs the D line by the scruff of there neck and says the blitz will be the only play they run for the rest of the night. The roar of the crowd is unbearable, Jim just stands there glaring at Urban, urban keeps staring at the ground. The buckeyes kickoff and that was the last time they ever touched the ball the rest of the night. 3 of the greatest mind in college football stunned the world by mounting the greatest comback in the history of college football.

  10. Our 97 team comes back for a redo of the celebration honoring their achievement only this time they ether the current Huskers in the locker room and TO chokes out Riley, they switch clothes and take the field. Urban Meyer and half the Buckeyes run and hide in a safe space under East Stadium. The Huskers run power I all night against a hodgepodge of remaining Buckeyes and a few cheerleaders and go up 14-0 until late in the fourth when Tanner Lee awakens, runs out to the field unbeknownst to Osborne, takes Frost’s place in the huddle and immediately throws a pick six. But it’s too little too late for Ohio State. Huskers win 14-7.

  12. Where's your god now? EDIT - Mostly I posted this thread because the stats in the tweet are an interesting oddity (and nothing more) but the first thing I thought of when I saw it was "Where's your god now?" which reminded me of this picture, which for some reason makes me giggle every time I see it. I just couldn't find it last night when I made this thread because of reasons.

  13. Really good read IMO, about what's lacking at NU. An identity. Duh. This quote alone makes me long for the days of old. A style that would still win today....Makes me want to go run through a wall! Physicality. Speed. Laterals. Power. Execution. Purpose. Rage. Absolute self-confidence.Quarterbacks you can’t tackle, tailbacks you can’t catch, centers you can’t shake, and defensive ends you can’t block. The N on Nebraska’s helmet was three-and-a-half hours of having your manhood tested, of having your resolve pounded into powder, then scattered to the four winds. The N meant it was time to buckle your freaking chin straps. The N said, We’re invading your backyard and we’re bringing the whole dang state with us. https://www.landof10.com/nebraska/nebraska-cornhuskers-say-dont-want-wisconsin-big-red-identity

  15. I saw a story about a girl who was told by the principle of her school she "had" to stand during the pledge or face suspension. This was in Texas. She refused, was suspended, and is now suing the school. Good for her. From my very basic understanding of law, it's an almost assured win for her. I can't believe this is the hill the GOP and their base chooses to die on. Anti-PC, free speech... unless it's something the snowflakes don't like. Unreal. Really shows how deeply Trump's nationalist impulses have seeped into the party itself.

  16. Once Langsdorf sees which running plays are working for Nebraska he reverts to calling only the running plays that haven’t worked. On numerous occasions of 2nd or 3rd and short Lang’s will call long developing long ball pass plays even when our average rush play thus far has averaged more yards than what is needed. He’ll finally feel comfortable once we are down by 28+ and he can call yolo bombs for the rest of the evening. I know, I know, not very bold...but accurate.

  18. It's not quite as cut and dried as that. Long also hired Mike Anderson to coach MBB and that's worked out pretty well. Long does seem to be pretty well respected amongst his peers. We're all aware of his involvement with the CFP committee. He was also named AD of the year in 2015. One thing that I do like about Long is he's worked under some larger than life football coaches and at some big time programs. He got hired by Bo Schembechler when Bo was the AD at Michigan and stayed there for 10 years. He replaced Frank Broyles (Arkansas version of TO) when Broyles retired from the AD spot and has been there for almost 10 years. He was also at Oklahoma in the early 2000s for a couple years and oversaw the football and MBB programs. Long's also worked in 5 of the 6 major conferences which is pretty impressive. I didn't intend for this to be such a pro Jeff Long post but the more I look at his background, the more you can't help but be impressed. I'll let someone else tackle Pollard.

  23. Medical Hardship Requirements To be eligible for a medical hardship waiver, a student-athlete has to meet the following criteria: The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school. The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury. The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season. The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.

  24. Don't even think about it...just do it. The way this injury is being described (or actually NOT described at all) there must be something strange going on. He is not going to be effective. He won't be helping himself get to the league (if that is a goal) by playing at less than 100%. Just get the medical redshirt, find the best Dr., get it fixed and start the rehab. Seems obvious unless there is something I am missing.

  26. I am now 100% on the single payor health care train. Ive been having some chest pain/pressure and palpitations after I eat so I went to a cardiologist last Wednesday and he ordered an echo stress test. I went for that test today only to be told my insurance denied me because of my age. They said they would only pay for me to walk on treadmill with ekg which the nurse practitioner said they wouldnt be able to fully diagnose me without the ultrasound. Wtf! My employer goes through united healthcare with their best available plan. Very high premium, low deductible. In fact $400+ a month premium. I pay half, employer pays half. So now because they denied me im stuck with that bill. I wasnt leaving that place without knowing if my heart was not getting enough O2 to it. Insurance companies are a bunch of f'ing crooks and this countrys healthcare is a f'ing joke. Would rather you die from a heart attack then pay for diagnostic/preventative services. Too young. What a joke. *preliminary report was good just so nobody freaks out haha*

  27. I really don't think the system matters much, I think the key is physicality. Physically dominating your opponents (especially on the lines) is the key, period. As mentioned by someone before, MSU runs a pro-style offense. the key to their success is they are physically dominant and aggressive. They don't run a "bend don't break" defense, or a "take what the defense gives us" offense. They punch you in the mouth on both sides of the ball, like we used to. We haven't done that in a long time. Even Bo's defenses were weak and soft (with the exception of the Suh years, which I credit mostly to Suh). We have not been a physical football team in this century, its time to return to that.

  28. Not that there isn't some point to this. But Sam spent several Tweets pushing his "nothing to see here" agenda. To be fair, he did say he wasn't totally absolving the current state of Nebraska football. But what were ticket prices last week? Did people just discover their living rooms in the last six days?

  30. If this tax reform truly was about: 1. Simplifying the tax code 2. Removing most of the frequently abused tax loopholes 3. Balancing the Budget Then I think that it would have bi-partisan support. Instead, it is once-again a supply-side economics policy that primarily benefits the wealthy. Its not going to create jobs. It will only serve to consolidate corporate power, weaken the government, and increase the deficit. Yay.

  35. I get what you're saying but there should be no need to have boosters "get the money together" to help facilitate a coaching change. The university has been rolling in cash with the Adidas deal and full share of the B1G. The financial influence from outside sources shouldn't need to be depended on.

  36. The average year cost with fees at UNL in 1995-96 for a resident of Nebraska was $2,575. For Non-resident it was $6,332 2017-18 it's $8,887 and $24,187 for resident/non respectively So it's is no surprise that a kid would take a full ride to South Dakota St over walking on at UNL. https://irads.unl.edu/dmdocuments/050_tuition_history.pdf

  39. First, that type of thing shouldn't be surprising. It's called a Bell Curve. Second, No one is expecting us to be competing for the National Championship, at least not right now. The teams at the top have a decided talent advantage. The question should be how close are we to being a solid Top 25 team looking to move into the Top 10. We are currently 29th (693). We are 160 behind #9 Clemson. We are 276 ahead of #90 Northern Illinois. So NIll overcame 170% the talent disadvantage we'd have to overcome to beat the defending National Champions.

  42. The blowouts and/or on-field meltdowns were starting to wear on a lot of fans... the leaked audio didn't help matters... but I think you are right; especially considering who we hired. Had we known that Bo would be replaced by a relatively unknown, .500 coach; only the biggest of detractors would have went along with the firing/hiring. imho. Personally, I didn't mind the firing; but I certainly would have rather retained Bo than hired MR (and I'm not just speaking from hindsight, I felt that way minutes after I read MR was hired & looked up his coaching history on wikipedia).

  43. I'm not "hell bent" on him, but I am convinced that he is future superstar in the business, and if Nebraska chooses to pass him up they'll regret it..... Imagine the outrage if we went with another guy and in 5 years Frosty is competing for National Titles in Knoxville, or wherever....

  44. Actually the walk on program does need some work in regards to relationship building. My uncle had a kid offered a walk on spot to go to Nebraska. NU never once spoke to the high school coaches to ask about the kid. The 2 previous kids over the last few years that were offered walk on spots to NU from the school spoke to the high school coach prior to the walk on offer. This was during the Bo years. So I would say some things and be improved regarding the walk on program

  45. In an effort to restart the discussion that has spiraled off in the Woodshed .... These are things I've read today - this isn't an issue? "As for Brenda Tracy.....let's just say she's not as pure as snow." "Mansplaining" just seems like an attempt from feminists to play the victim." "[...] do I feel that these inequalities facing women/minorities are often exaggerated? Yes, from what I've seen [...] the obstacles facing non-whites/males aren't as steep as they're made out to be." Harvey Weinstein is the latest ... Trump, Ailes, O'Reilly, Cosby ... the list is long and these are just the big name ones that have had people come out and speak about it.

No one needs to read a profile on Alex Jones. The more pub that jerk gets, the longer he'll be able to monetize his nonsense.
