  1. I remember when Bo told Suh that he needed to get better before going to the NFL, which is a major reason Suh returned for his senior season. It worked on Suh and he had one of the most dominant seasons of any player in NCAA history in 2009. Maybe it'll light a fire under Jackson.

  4. Been awhile since this thread has been bumped. That pesky ole slush fund the Trump Foundation just won't go away. Edit: Thread with good info. This actually goes deeper than I thought. Not only did they use his charity to decorate Trump golf courses and pay off legal fees, it appears they sent money to people from the campaign. That would definitely be some type of campaign finance violation.

  7. As of right now, I don't think you can objectively put Frost ahead of Meyer, Franklin, Dantonio, Chryst, Ferentz, Fitzgerald or Harbaugh. All seven of those guys have accomplished things at their current schools. Frost hasn't done anything at Nebraska yet. In the near future though, I think Frost will be much higher.

  10. #79 Rich Glover. Highlights. Glover was every bit as dominant on the interior line as Ndamukong Suh.

  18. There is a very small, but somewhat legitimate, reason for this IMO (in the context of regular every day Americans who identify as Republican/conservative -- not in regards to politicians): Conservatism has lost the culture "war" in America. Because of a few reasons. The two biggest ones being the correlation of conservative/liberal ideas and rural/urban lifestyle, and also the rise of the internet, social media and general connectivity. The world and the country have become a much bigger and more connected place. What's interesting is that while conservatives (rural citizens) have a disproportionately powerful voice in government, liberals (urban citizens) have a disproportionately powerful voice in culture, because while the percentages of people who believe X vs Y might not really be all that different, cities seem to naturally be much more progressive, and cities are where the progression of technology, and specifically the technology of mass communication and the sharing of ideas with like-minded people all over, have incubated. Conservatives (rural citizens) very often feel forgotten, ignored, and more importantly feel unfairly mocked, scorned, and patronized to. A lot of that is imagined in their heads, and exacerbated by partisan news. But at least some fraction of it is legitimate. Most anyone who has or does live in a big city knows just how easy and effortless it is to start painting a mental picture in your head of how conservative/rural people are dumber, more ignorant, more uneducated, and more clueless than you are. I am entirely guilty of this.

  19. So I'm gathering that I need to start my own "Mets Misery Thread" That seems to be the key to getting the team to play better......

  20. What the hell are we supposed to talk about. It’s summer. We can only discuss frosts greatness in so many different threads. I for one am not uncomfortable to acknowledge frost had options. ESPN rambles about worthless crap all day and lots tune in to watch 2 people give their opinions on topics. It’s fun to debate and speculate. I actually think that’s why this board was created

  23. This is defcorn 11!!! We are going to ruin everything about the Huskers, throw away our tradition and stomp all over Bob Devaney's grave if we don't hand out the Blackshirts the way God & Tom Osborne intended!!!!! I pray to God, little baby Jesus & Ndamukong Suh's swim move that we hand them out after the last week of camp, before the first game. If we don't do it exactly like that and no other way, the terrorists have already won.

  25. I would say "yes". I heard (I think from the 247 podcast) that the staff specifically did this with the unrated OT and JUCO DT. Frost has said that when a kid commits to the program, they commit to him. So, I think they only want guys to commit when they are completely ready to end the recruiting process.

  28. He's pretty obviously compromised by something at this point, right? Either Putin has something on him or he's so insecure he just wants to go down this road to show he can. Either way, this is very bad. The U.S. president is either a Russian puppet or a useful idiot. We've got to band together and oust this cancer before it metastasizes too much further.

  33. I just finished these two: "Tin Cup Dreams: A Longshot Makes it on the PGA Tour" by Michael D'Antonio. Pretty good read. It's about Esteban Toledo. "The Real History of the End of the World" By Sharan Newman. It's a compilation of various end of the world prophesies. With attempts at humor mixed in. Decent book. I'd recommend it.

  34. One of the largest reasons this became a big deal was because of the way BP reacted to being asked about them. It was a clear pressure point for him and yet he just kept doing things his way and reacting poorly to the questions. Personally, would I prefer they just get handed out preseason and be done with them? Yeah, I would. But, I understand what's led to things being the way they are now. This also all ultimately comes down to one thing - playing good defense. Start doing that and everything else will work itself out.

  35. Now that the US is not in it I will probably cheer for Iceland. Fun fact, the US Military protects Iceland because the country is so small it can't have a military big enough to defend itself. Therefore if Iceland wins it all the US should get some credit too because we protect them from harm.

  38. Good lord dude. Just go look at threads on those players. Here's just from the POB thread. So, the program announced to the media that POB asked for his release. (10:59am) POB tweets out to announce he is transferring at (11:26am). SOP is the player talks to the staff and asks for the release. The program announces the player is no longer with the program....the press reaches out to the player and he makes a statement. Not sure why you are working so hard to find fault once again with the staff. But, it's becoming a common theme with you.

  40. It's always a little interesting to look back and see how close things were to going another direction. What happens to Nebraska if Tom Osborne doesn't promise Frank Solich the head coaching job? Does Osborne stay on, and do we win another Championship in 1999? 2001? What happens if Pederson doesn't fire Solich in 2003, and Bo's defensive changes keep the ship afloat? What happens if Solich picks up recruiting and is still here - can you imagine if it's 2018 and we're only on our third different head coach since 1962? What if Callahan fires Cosgrove and hires a good defensive coordinator? Joey Ganz spends 2008 torching teams like the latter half of 2007, Suh is a monster, and we win a conference title. Would Callahan still be here if that was the case? What if Taylor Martinez isn't hit just so in that Missouri game and doesn't screw up his foot/ankle? Is he our fourth Heisman winner? What if Ndamukong Suh was held on the final offensive play against Texas in the Big XII Championship game? Or even slowed down, just a little bit? Think about the fact that we lost that game because Suh was too good, got to McCoy too fast on that play, and made him throw away the ball just an Nth too soon. So many possibilities. Maybe Gill's pass on the two-point conversion is just three inches further to the right in 1983 and Osborne wins his first National Championship 11 years earlier. Maybe the refs don't make two of the worst calls in football history on back-to-back plays in 1982 at Penn State and he wins that year, too. Maybe Henery is just short on his 57-yarder in 2008 and we finish the decade .500 against Colorado. When you've got idle time in the offseason and time to think about stuff like this, it's kinda interesting to think how close things are to being so different.
