  1. 1. We learned that the rumors about the B1G's officiating being terrible are very true: How this is even possible at any point confounds me. This is virtually and statistically impossible. This officiating crew also couldn't keep up with the down marker, either... 2. We learned that this defensive staff doesn't adjust well to the changes their opponent throws at them. Two changes that Minny made: A. QB change due to injury. B. More Wildcat. 3. We learned that Minny's close game with the Buckeyes was more on the Buckeyes and less on Minny. OSU looked bad last night. I mean, REALLY bad...we are talking to the point where some of that fan base is thinking this is the end of Meyer's tenure after this season. 4. We learned Purdue is better than their record. 5. Learned that when this team takes their foot off the gas, the car stalls. They pop started the clutch today, though. 6. This stat is still screwing with me...

  2. He didn’t make it to the Purdue game last night.

  3. So happy for that young man fighting cancer they profiled this morning on Gameday. He got to see this victory live when he wasn't even sure he was going to make it to this game. Kind of a surreal moment to remember this is just a dumb game we all love watching on the weekends & how pointless it is in the grand scheme of life. So pumped for that dude tonight.

  4. Honestly if Martinez plays his senior year and plays well, the kid might have been a 5 star

  5. 659 yards of Total Offense today - the most by the 'skers in our B1G conference play history. That doesn't just happen. It happens when: -You don't commit a ton of offensive penalties -Your play calling is excellent -Your coach and offensive coordinator draw up a great game plan to exploit the other team's weaknesses -Your offensive line plays well -Your backs find their running lanes -Your wide receivers/backs/tight ends bust their a**es to block (Morgan on Ozigbo's second touchdown, and anyone else yell out "Ohhhhhhh" when Washington cuts that guy down on Martinez's scramble????) -Your quarterback throws for 86% -Your quarterback makes great decisions -Your quarterback runs for over 100 yards -Your quarterback threatens the other defense to be able to chip them for a 30 yard run on any given play See the main trends there? The combination of Frost's offensive mind & Adrian Martinez is so good. Yes, the line played well today and I want to highlight how critical that was, not just from a run blocking standpoint but also pass blocking. Ozigbo was a man possessed. The receivers caught the passes that came anywhere near their area. Morgan was a man among boys out there. But Martinez is seriously unreal, and he was at the center of this whole win today. His lateral running blows my mind; he just casually side steps linebackers basically 100% of the time. He plants his feet to throw and his head never stops scanning the field. I can't believe how fortunate it was that we landed this kid. One of the biggest things I noticed with Milton at UCF was how Frost had him roll out to suck in the linebackers to open up the passing game. This play right here is seriously just too good:

  7. No one coaches it another way. It’s just a difficult thing to do. If you’re running full speed and turn to look at the QB at the wrong time, you could easily lose the WR. It’s a difficult concept to master because they have to judge when to turn based on the WR’s eyes/facial expression/maybe experience on when the ball seems like it should be getting there. I’m guessing they can glance at a QB occasionally unless the WR is very fast and they have to focus solely on keeping up. At least, those are my common sense assumptions on why turning around is an issue for many CBs. People complain thinking it’s easy but we have the benefit of knowing exactly where the ball is and that it’s coming toward the player. Good CBs with good coaching figure it out, but nobody’s not coaching them to do it.

  8. I still think Martinez is still a bit hobbled by his knee injury. I don't think he gets caught on his two long runs before his injury. The injury isn't serious right now, but it's still keeping Martinez from getting to top speed.

  9. In Devaney's first win Nebraska scored 53. In Frost's first win, Nebraska scored 53. In Osborne's first win, both teams combined for 53 (40-13). We are through the looking glass here people.

  10. @krc1995 It's because of all that sugar in their sweet tea. And salt when someone suggests that the SEC as a whole ain't all it's cracked up to be.

  11. I learned that we have a fairly small core of absolute stud ballers If we can acquire / develop just a few more on each side of line we will be a very dangerous team. I realize it was just one win, and against Minnesota. But you can't say you aren't excited to see Martinez, Spielman, Washington and a few others playing like they do.

  13. Denifinitey on the OL. They are an easy target, especially for a casual observer. But they have been playing very well lately. Lanes for the RBs and time for Martinez.

  14. And Washington already looks better than your average Newby. Is it possible we should show some love for the offensive line?

  15. 2018 Ozigbo 7 games, 85 Attempts - 8 carries of 20+ 2015-2017 Ozigbo 26 games, 265 carries - 6 carries of 20+

  16. He looked faster in the spring because he was playing against our defense which is slow

  17. Watched Ozigbo for four seasons now. Always liked him well enough. Figured he was being used about right. But I don't remember him being this fast. Being fast just wasn't his thing. Now it looks like he has a whole nuther gear. I don't remember him getting to the corners that fast, or pulling legitimate jukes, or reverse fields or. blowing past cornerbacks. He's faster in the open field than Martinez, for sure. The jump from four yards a carry to 9 yards a carry is pretty remarkable. Not saying he made a deal with the devil. Just saying it would explain things.

  22. We learned that Adrian Martinez has every chance to become the best QB to ever play at Nebraska. This is his seventh game. As a true Freshman.

  31. The play action pass off the option fake was my favorite play that TO used to run. I loved the option, but when the QB would go down the line a few steps, and then drop back and hit a streaking TE or Split-End for a big play, I loved it!!!

  32. @Undone that pass play reminds me so much of the old option pass TO used to run and burn teams on. Sure there is obviously differences, but moving the pocket like that gets safeties and LB out of their normal coverage areas and usually sucked up to stop the run. Just watch how everyone looks like a QB run with zone blocking and then BAM! Just like Osborne used to do it.

  33. Only lose Foster and Farmer on the OL. I think Mills steps in next year and gets a good amount of carries. My biggest worry is probably safety. We’ll lose Williams, Reed, and Neal.

  42. This doesn't belong in the Husker forum. This is Purdue's win. Although it's pertinent to point out that we held Purdue to 42 and scored 28 on them unlike OSU who sucks & lost 49-20 but who are we to judge?
    2 points
  43. pretty sure Moos and Frost popped off too much before the season started, about how good we were going to be........pissed off the other teams and the refs played their game.......we will always need to dominate the score to have a chance now, the refs want to stick it to Frost, every chance they get. Better to be humble and keep your mouth shut! Forget about fair calls for sometime now.........

  46. If this 0-6 had happened in 2015 the mood wouldn't be nearly as optimistic because Mike Riley was (and still is) a terrible, crappy, football coach who has no idea what it takes to win, let alone be a champion. His lifetime .500 +/- record demstrates his inadequacies. Here is the reality: 1. Scott Frost is a conference and national championship winning QB during his playing days here. 2. He played 7 years in the league. 3. While in the NFL he was coached and learned from: Bill Belichek, Jon Gruden, Mike Tomlin, and others. Not to memtion being coached in college by Bill Walsh and Tom Osborne. 4. Frost took over for an 0-12 team and in two years they were 13-0. Mike Riley NEVER had success even remotely close to that as a sub-par backup player or in 40 years of coaching. That is why Coach Frost is being given far greater latitude than Mike Riley--he's earned it.
