  1. Look at our schedule again. Then watch the last 6 games of last season. IMO no koolaid is required to predict 10 wins.

  3. Sipple actually talked about that in the Husker Extra podcast last week. It was his article that called out Dedrick and his GPA situation and he admitted he felt sort of uncomfortable about it all after a conversation with Mo Barry. Apparently, Sipple was interviewing Barry after that Dedrick/GPA article and Barry brought it up at one point during their conversation. Barry wasn't upset at Sipple but was upset at Dedrick's coach. He felt the coach shouldn't have gone into that detail (which I agree with). Barry also pointed out that he was incredibly embarrassed coming out of high school because it was public knowledge that he didn't have the grades to get into some universities. Essentially, 'it's one thing to have your toughness called into question, but your intelligence is something else.' Sipple said it was a sobering conversation and made him rethink how he would cover that kind of stuff in the future.

  10. Guess it depends how you look at it. 2011- couldn't stop the run but Rex, who rarely fumbled, does so inside their 5 yard line. A score of any kind and the game is different 2012- Two muffed punts by Abdullah/Bell. Giving NW prime field position, which they scored a TD. 2013- Armstrong throws 500 ints that game. We were lucky to win. 2014- Probably the cleanest game we played of the series and the score showed. 2015- Armstrong just flings a pass, under pressure so credit NW, but the pass goes for a pick 6. Turned out to be the difference. 2016- Fumbles, fumbles and more fumbles, along with missed TD passes. Luckily Northwestern couldn't capitalize but the score should've been much worse in favor of Nebraska. 2017- Everyone knows the coaching staff peed that one away. Driving with chance to put them away and they make Lee pass instead of milking clock and playing for a FG. Mind you they needed a win any way they could get one. 2018- You could talk me into NW making plays. Davis did bail them out by not laying off of Thorson on 3rd down. Sure they made the plays to win but to some flukey **** has gone down in the series I can't even front on Wisconsin...they've flat out beat us.

  12. First Post, Saw this on YouTube and got excited about what Martinez and Frost can do. They appear to run a lot of the same plays/concepts and I think Martinez is just as skilled as Mariota but Oregon may have been more stacked at skill position than our current roster. I feel like NU is going to light up some defenses in the near future.

  13. Ben Carson literally told America he had no business running a federal agency: Not a week later, Trump nominated him to run HUD anyway. The only potential justification I've heard as to why Trump thought this would be a good idea was because he figured Carson would know something about urban development. Anybody surprised by his utter incompetence hasn't been paying attention. Still, pretty sad to watch.

  18. What happens is that the money earmarked for these 'fixes' gets used elsewhere in some other pet projects (like the most recent tax cuts), and these bills mostly become unfunded mandates that are eventually ignored. The VA needs to get funding so they can fix what is broken, hire more doctors and staff to reduce waiting time, and get rid of a lot of the ridiculous bureaucracy that causes problems in the first place. For example, one of my veteran friends had to see someone in the VA four times over before he could officially get the percentage of disability everyone knew he had from the onset (which impacted his retirement pay). That's two or three visits too many, and it wastes time and resources and creates the scheduling nightmares that take place. Hell, why not make some sort of medical service corps that serves VA hospitals and rural communities struggling to bring in or keep trained doctors and nurses--this way, you have a cadre of regional doctors making trips to rural areas to assist in treatment, but if they're needed to shore up the VA and help keep appointments flowing, they get brought back in for a spell. Allow recent medial graduates the opportunity to serve in this capacity for four years at adequate pay, and their school debt is forgiven by the government. That, or if you're a former military medic, doctor, or nurse, you can continue service stateside in the VA and in rural areas to contribute towards years of service. (something like this may already be in play at the VA, not sure). Because character assassination pays dividends in future discussions of projects or ideas the assassinated character brings up, like the New Green Deal. It's easier to paint her as a 'crazy broad' than it is to break down her plans and intelligently discuss their benefits or flaws.

  19. My understanding of the Mills situation is they’ve know for the entire semester (so at least since January) that he would need to take classes this semester to increase his GPA. Then a journalist decided to tweet a couple weeks ago (perhapa because he’d just found out) what the coaches have always known, just to make people panic and think it’s a new thing and get more clicks. That’s how it has looked ever since whatever journalist it was made that post. I imagine it wasn’t even that hard for him, especially if he had a couple Fs, ‘cause replacing an F with a C would be a huge boost to the GPA. Or a D with a B.

  22. They passed one in 2018. They passed one in 2017. They passed one in 2016. They pass legislation to "fix" the VA all the time. But nothing actually happens. And we've had that problem for several decades.

  24. Agreed. I think there's an argument to be made that Mills' arrival, assuming he can pick up where he left off from his Georgia Tech days, was more critical than Mo's return. It's possible guys like Rahmir and Wandale could fill Mo's void a bit if it comes down to it, but it feels like Mills was the piece that would be harder to make up for. I feel good knowing they're halfway to their best case scenario in the RB room, though. We didn't feel super comfortable about either Dedrick or Mo a few weeks ago.

  27. Lost my wallet Saturday between Mouth of the South parking lot, my brothers truck, and my house and pretty sure it was in the parking lot after tearing up the truck and house. Not a lot of cash in there, a few gift cards, but mainly concerned about replacing my license, my CCW, and my debit card. Flying overseas next Friday too, so hopefully they don’t get crazy if all I have is my passport. Shoot, I also had 30¢ off my next fill-up at Kroger gas stations

  28. You know it's official because of the asterisks. Friends, it's time once again to celebrate America's dominance over the rest of the planet in volleyball. The 2019 VNL Roster has been announced, and it features three Huskers - Jordan Larson, Kelsey Robinson and Mikaela Foecke. Team USA played their first match, a three-game sweep against Belgium. Robinson and Larson didn't play - like most of the roster regulars, they just finished Club Ball (in Europe, where they actually value women's athletics), so head coach Karch Kiraly is giving them some time off to R&R. This week's travel roster features a LOT of Big Ten players. Expect the Big Guns (Bartschy, Larson, Robinson, et al) to return for other matches once they've rested up, and for Karch to mix in the youths as the season progresses.

  30. Without knowing how well Rahmir will be as a receiving threat, I’d strongly disagree. Robinson and Washington amplify each other because they both can run routes you simply don’t see out of the backfield, and they can do it out of two back. Together they require teams to either substitute LBs or play mostly zone. Given we play in a LB dominant division, that’s a big deal. This offense with all of the screens, floods, and quads is extremely difficult to zone. That’s why if we can put more threats on the field, even if none are as good as Stan, we’ll be far more dangerous. Teams could play a lot of man last year.

  31. I watched a bit of their spring game on TV. Meh. JAGs everywhere. I will say that I came away impressed by their WRs. Shenault, Jr didn’t play yet they still had several playmakers and big targets. Their secondary is bad, so I don’t mean to overrate their WRs, but they did look good and fast. Good early test for our secondary. Their ILBs are their second best unit in my opinion, lead by Landman. He’s fun to watch even if he’s a Buff. Montez still “scares” me to an extent just because he can make some incredible plays. But he also makes a ton of mistakes and we are going to force several with our 2nd year defense and the fact that our DLine and edge rushers are so much better than their OLine. I think we get revenge in a big way.

  34. I think on top of them cramming 20+ episodes of material into 13, the other major issue I have is they seemed to have the goal of shocking and surprising people just for the sake of it, and not because it made any sense for the characters or the story. The biggest example of that is Cersei. Game of Thrones is essentially The Lannisters vs. The Starks with a little impending zombie invasion thrown in. Everyone’s been waiting for Cersei’s comeuppance and for her to face the Starks and one of them to win, but neither happened and I don’t see a storytelling reason for why not. I don’t think she had more than 10 mins of screen time this season. Even if we all thought it was coming, it wouldn’t have made it less good to actually see it, rather than getting surprised with an extremely lame ending to it. Cersei could’ve been killed in a much more pleasing way and everything else they decided to do could’ve still happened.
