Another way to look at this is that Illinois is having a better season than Nebraska and knows how to beat a top 10 team. Penn State will having a winning record unlike Nebraska this year.8 points

that is truly unacceptable with the amount of money that is put into this program and the salary frost is making... regardless what our win/loss record is... and yea... i'm sure we'll get a bunch of 3 stars to sign before signing day and huskeronline will bump up our class ranking as much as they can.... but clearly no top talent is interested in coming here and frost is no longer a name recruits are interested in playing for...7 points

i think most people would be over the illinois loss by now if we had a .500 or winning record....7 points

Unnecessary to make a new thread. Should be in the 2022 class thread. OP has a point though. Even taking into account our limited #s these guys are getting their asses handed to them on the recruiting trail. Low average recruit ranking. No four stars. No offensive lineman. Injured, mediocre QB prospect. Highest rated player just announced he wants to open up his recruitment. Lost every single high ranked in state prospect (a disturbing trend now). I’m not being a Debbie downer. This class just straight up isn’t very good. There is nobody on the radar but 3 star JUCO guys & gonna try and get portal players. I hope it works out.7 points

Frost is 6-13 against Big Ten West teams. That has nothing to do with strength of schedule.6 points

I get the attempt at sarcasm, but Franklin has been at PSU for 8 years and had 7 winning seasons. He is 25 games over .500 at PSU. If our coach had Franklins resume you would not see as many fans concerned.6 points

Theres no way you can tell me Bert’s first year team at Illinois is better, roster-wise, than what we have at Nebraska the past four years. This is great for Bert, but it’s a slap in the face for Nebraska fans.5 points

“They would’ve been burning crosses in my yard if I won 5 games”. At min 4 below So… It’s ok for Frost to win 5 games and get a contract extension after winning 5 games….? Bo was 7-0 and getting questions about his job status? What is in the air in Lincoln?4 points

I am joking. But that's a perfectly valid takeaway from the game, too. We're closer to Illinois than we are Penn State right now. And we're actually looking up at Illinois. Why can't Nebraska be Illinois?4 points

Campbell is within reach. Money talks and prestige talks. The Big 12 is becoming less relevant. He must be thinking next move as he’s taken ISU as about as far as they can go.4 points

"How do people who follow recruiting closely and have for a while defend the fact that our recruiting class is currently ranked 83 out of 130?" Roster management due to the COVID year can't be blamed on the coaches - we're looking at 13 available scholarships this year, meaning we can't sign 20 like some schools plan to. The recruiting services have admitted they're not able to watch all the film this year due to the "COVID backlog", if you will. Expect ratings to change pretty drastically after HS FB season ends in December this year. Do I wish we were higher? Yes. Do I wish we were in on higher rated players? Yes. Am I hitting the panic button and saying Frost and his staff can't recruit? No, they've proven that isn't the case. Check back in January.4 points

I am still in the boat that Frank solich would have worked out Had he been given the proper amount of time with Bo Pelini as his defensive coordinator. Now Bo more than likely would have moved on as well as some other assistant coaches. However, I think Frank eventually would have picked up Scott Frost as an offensive coordinator / coach in waiting. And it would have worked out just fine4 points

He lost to Illinois! My God! He has been there for years and Penn St. Still loses games they should win. Unacceptable. Why didn't he have his team ready to go??? Its Illinois for peets sake.3 points

Watching this Oklahoma vs Kansas game and the stadium is so empty. OU is #3, undefeated, with a hotshot new freshman QB, and fans can’t even show up! I bet if our 5 loss team played at Kansas we’d have that place full of red! Win or lose kudos to our fans!3 points

Honestly I’m getting tired of people comparing Frost at his best to Pelini and Riley at their worst. Pelini was 4 points away from multiple conf titles. Riley beat a top 8 team and took #11 Wisconsin to OT at Camp Randall. Compare entire bodies of work.3 points

I bet he can get much more out of our talent than Frostie. His team competes and has beaten ranked teams. He is not my first choice but definitely an upgrade from where we are right now.3 points

In case anyone was wondering, I searched “most hyperbolic and uninformed threads ever” and I got dropped in here. This is a spot on search function for ole Huskerbaord, I tell ya.3 points

Which would have involved beating multiple top 10 teams. Strength of schedule matters.3 points

I think I understand the point you’re trying to make, do you think people want Frost fired because he lost once to Illinois?3 points

Not sure of Alberts would consider him, and he's a bit of a character, but I'd throw whatever I could at him....Should there be a decision to move on of course. He'd be a really good hire imo. He'd spare no expense recruiting the best talent he can get, has a nice offensive scheme proving to be a very good offensive mind while having gone up against some of the beat coaches in CFB. Most years he will be out of the division race before it even begins at Ole Miss. At Nebraska, he'll have his chances more often than not. All said, it's not up to me obviously. Time will tell.3 points

I can't add a single thing. Good info. If we continue to lose our own kids, that's no bueno. Small class or not, it's shaping up to be a real dud. End of the day, winning cures all. And we haven't been winning. The previous classes, I always said that the kids must like the vision that Frost is selling. Moving forward, it appears that a lot of kids are no longer buying. And we have not won with our "higher ranked" classes. How will it look when we start pulling in the last class in the B1G. I think it's a valid concern and observation.3 points

Bo wasn't fired because of his record. There's a reason Bo hasn't been hired by another P5 team since he left Nebraska.3 points

This is a good listen. Bo did a lot of good things. I do think his hothead style would have matured under Osborne and he got a terrible style match with Eichorst. It then added this extra pressure and the program was not aligned all pulling in the same direction.3 points

I can get behind this. Trumpists.... don't vote. It's useless. Especially since the crafty Dems stole the last election from you and yet they're somehow too dimwitted to figure out how to pass legislation. Anyway, stay home and sulk. It's for the best3 points

What I wouldnt give for us to be ranked #7 in the country and lose to Illinois2 points
-
Yeah.... exactly the point.;) Go check out the tempertantrum being thrown on the Penn St. Boards. Looks just like the one being thrown here for the last week. Point is teams come out flat and lose games they shouldn't all the time. They call them trap games for a reason. Minnesota was totally a trap game for us. Doesn't erase the improvement we've seen across the board this year. The meltdown this board has had this past week is about as ridiculous as I've seen in the 15ish years I've followed the board.2 points

I think within the past few years is this is where i know things arent getting better. I could get all hyped up for the possibility of a crappy bowl. But with losing last week and in week one it will be very hard for us to make any bowl worth a dam. We need a good national presence to bring in recruits and when you lose as much as we have its not going to happen. We need several 8-4 years to get some good 3 and 4 star kids here. Hell we cant even keep our own in state kids.2 points

Interesting you come to the defense of someone who killed another person. Priorities I guess2 points

Some coaches can maximize results with the talent they have while others do not. Given poor coaching acumen, Frost really needs to knock it out of the park with recruiting. His first few classes were strong, but I agree being ranked dead last in the BIG is concerning. I would not put all our stock in the transfer portal as that seems a bit risky.2 points
-
My guess is the coaches understand if they don't get some issues fixed next year their time here will come to an end. They are going to focus on recruiting kids from the portal that are more ready to play next year than a high school kid who could take 3 or 4 years to mature and grow into the system. They are also looking for junior college kids with experience.2 points

That's literally my point. Then he rags on yants big run, saying he would have scored. He seems like a pretty self important kid. Like I said, I hope I am wrong and this was just a bad moment for a good kid. I won't be surprised if this doesn't end well, though2 points

What is success? How is it measured for Nebraska? Name me 5 coaches who had back-to-back success at 2 progams or more. Not success at one place, and s#!tty at another, then eventually more success down the road at another spot. BACK to BACK success at 2 schools. Give me 5, 10 or 15 coaches who done that. So we can then pick who's good. Or we can stay put and keep building towards a Big 10 'chip, one year at a time. Patience and perseverance still means everything2 points
