  2. Rewatching the 2014 miami game with my girlfriend as part of her introduction to Nebraska football (she's from Alabama).

She's so into it and intimidated by the crowd and I'm almost crying thinking of how much I miss football, miss big primetime moments and love this program.

I remember your highlight video--it was really well done.

That was the first game my wife and I attended together. She was blown away by the whole experience. Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, and the team really showed up for that game. Incredible atmosphere

  4. Imagine the potential of Frost's recruiting chops if he can start winning some games. Recruiting is the biggest source of optimism it's been in probably 20 years right now.

Yeah, if they can recruit like this with our poor/mediocre W-L, I would think it would get even better and easier with some winning, bowl games, titles etc.

Get in the Top 15 and then I’ll be impressed.

  5. Clemson is 67-4 over the last five years (potential to be 69-4). As impressive as 93-97 Nebraska? If they win the natty this year, they would've been one Syracuse loss away from 70-3. Wow.

@MLB 51 You could say that about a lot of coaches that have brought in talent. A HC #1 job is to recruit and hire great staff around them. He has done that along with winning a lot of game, and it makes him a great HC.

@The Dude Don't sound like Michigan fans and make excuses. Long ago Nebraska put the resources in place in areas such as S&C, they were mentally and physically stronger than most teams they played at the time, and they took advantage of the rules that were in place. They simply invested in key areas which other schools weren't at the time. Other teams are doing the same things now and have surpassed what Nebraska built long ago.

He's recruited at a clip similar to Osborne. That is, not as elite as you might think especially compared to Bama and others:

      2011 - #10

      2012 - #20

      2013 - #15

      2014 - #16

      2015 - #9

      2016 - #11

      2017 - #16

      2018 - #7

      2019 - #10

@jaws it appears you've missed understood me.  I'm saying Nebraska had one the greatest dynasties in the history of the game despite having natural disadvantages that don't exist at places like Clemson and Alabama.

It's kind of like an excuse, except the exact opposite.

  9. Phew. Feel great for that kid, what a cool moment for him. Gotta say though, as a fan that level of celebration after this one just seems stupid and embarrassing. Just an ugly disappointing game for a team who still hasn't looked good through the majority of the season. BUT, wins are wins and that feels nice. And they're playing Let Me Clear My Throat! Enjoy it if you can.

I am grateful, and enjoying the win. Also, we looked pretty poor against a really poor team.

What did Wisconsin think of that really poor team?

    4. ZRod

      ZRod

So, should we not have celebrated the Hail Mary? Because that was arguably more beneath us than this game was.

Northwestern got beat by two top 25 teams and Stanford. They kept it fairly close with each. We would probably get creamed in 2 of the 3. We need these kind of dirty wins, with a backup QB, to grow as a team. Not sure why it's embarrassing to go nuts over a walk off FG to win it... especially considering our struggles at kicker.

  10. This is exactly the type of game that Northwestern loves, and usually wins. And it's a bit exhausting.

  11. Does anyone else have a hunch that Moos might have pulled in a huge favor or connection to manipulate gameday and primetime to be here? How long has he had this planned?

@Minnesota_husker we had people on here telling us the time and day that the announcement would come, and it was before any announcement of Gameday.

@Minnesota_husker I do agree that it seems a little odd that they don’t have anything interior yet.  But the story is they had circled this weekend this summer because of Ohio State.  GameDay was just a bonus.  I had seen reports of roughly this timeframe at least a month ago.

  12. Georgia did the same 'turn every screen in the stadium pure red' thing that we did, but they turned the field lights off. I think it's about 50x cooler than ours was and we need to do it immediately. Like, Saturday night?

It was pretty cool at the NIU game with the red banner lights and everyone with their phone lights on. Maybe they'll turn off the field lights this week.

We could turn off all the lights and that would give us a chance to run away from The Ohio State

  21. hyper replay analyzation is ruining certain elements of sports and their outcomes

      JJ Husker

I agree that hyper replays are ruining the game experience. There are a few faults with it imo.

1- They are wasting too much time in the process. There should be a much more limited window for them to review.

2- Some of the stuff they are reviewing is ridiculous. This is basically #1 complaint again but some of these pinky touches etc. need to be skipped.

3- People/Fans/Viewers need to once again accept that human error and referee imperfection is an integral part of the game.

I think a lot of this perception is driven by how the TV broadcast crew handles it. It probably wouldn’t seem near as bad if they just wouldn’t show 6 different angles at varying slo mo speeds down to frame by frame, talking constantly and bringing in “experts” etc. Just say it’s under review, go to commercial, and let us know the result when play resumes. I don’t need Dean Blandino or whoever in the F is back in New York to provide his hot take. Of course I was happy without a playoff in CFB too.....

    3. The Dude

      The Dude

I don't think there should be any replays ever and we should just, as adults, acknowledge bad calls are unavoidable and move past it.

    4. Moiraine

      Moiraine

@The Dude  I think having replay is a good thing, but in every sport there should be a limit and the coaches decide. 3 per half or whatever.
