Pretty cool vizualization of the jet stream bringing this polar air down to the States.

Pretty sure Lincoln is going to break the record for snowfall in a year with last night's new snow.

This has been a rough year here in Omaha and reminds me when I lived in the Spokane WA area. 2008-2009 was the snowiest season I’ve experienced. We were, I think, 1/10th of an inch shy of breaking the season record with about 93” of snow. Record 30-day snowfall of 62”, record 19” of snow in 24hrs, and received 36” in the week...people cross-country skiing through the city. Completely buried my car lol.

Prince leading the Bears D in the touchdown celebration is the best thing you'll see this Thanksgiving.

Prince would have been 62 today.

Rest In Peace Ian Holm, who played Bilbo Baggins in LOTR.

RIP Bandit.
Burt Reynolds dies at 82.

RIP Eddie Van Halen. Dang.

@Enhance the way Eddie looked about 10 years ago, I am actually surprised that he lasted to 65. It's far too young, but with his tongue cancer and lifestyle of cigs, booze, and other drugs, it's a miracle he lasted to 65.

RIP Gale Sayers. A true legend.

Rumor: Luke Fickell being courted by Michigan State.

Running is not going well. Mostly because I'm not a runner, and because running is the devil. But I've got a 5K route planned for this evening, and while I'll probably die doing it, I'm going to do it.

Even with a known condition he has to get an exemption and it looks like he never got one. There's two reasons for that - his condition hasn't been shown to be so debilitating that he needs the meds or he & his team have been lax and just not gotten it. I can't imagine the latter being the case with a world-class cyclist/cycling team. My guess is he's mildly asthmatic and is using the meds as a permissible PDE. Hate to say that, but if this is your job & your life, you get that certificate. Right?

I agree Knappic. The sport of cycling, unfortunately, has been tainted for a long time. I think most people knew Lance was doping but he still had to train and he still had to know how to handle the bike. He deserved what he got especially since he lied for so long (I especially feel sorry for his son. The kid defended his Dad to the end then had to find out Lance lied. So sad. ). Lance brought such a heightened awareness to cycling and it would have been so great to have his take of the Tour along with Phil, Paul and Bobke. (Lance does have a podcast during the tour. )

Samuel Tom Holiday, a Navajo Code Talker who joined the Corps at 19 to serve in WWII, has died at age 94. RIP, sir.
-
Heh, that's a coincidence. I was just thinking about the Code Talkers yesterday. I was reading about the Hopi fifth world prophecy, and started wondering whether the Hopi language is more indecipherable than Navajo language. The Hopi and Navajo tribes live in about the same area, in NW Arizona near four corners.

Seeing speculation that the only Fall college sport will be Football, and it's a revenue issue. Apparently lots of programs operate in the red, and if football doesn't make money, they won't be able to field teams in other sports.

Shawn Eichorst has been hired by Texas.

Shout out to all the UNL students walking to class this morning. Here's hoping you make it to class alive!

Shout-out to the crew here at HuskerBoard who put in a lot of extra, quick work to make this board readable again after the update.

That @GSG guy is still able to post here so, was it REALLY an upgrade?
But yeah, shout out to the crew

Since 1972 only six linemen were Heisman finalists. Three of them were Huskers.
Rich Glover - 1972
Dave Rimington - 1982
Ndamukong Suh - 2009

@ZRod IMVHO, Suh not winning when he was clearly the best player is what has led to the dwindling interest in the award. Ratings are down and it's not moving the needle with anyone anymore. There was a thread on Reddit a week or two ago about the Heisman and fans from all kinds of different teams cited that moment as when they lost interest.
-
@knapplc Agreed. There is something seriously wrong when one candidate single handedly destroys another's campaign in a single game and still finished behind him in voting. Whatever, I really don't care about the award anymore.

Six games. 23 days.
Then it's Creighton Time.
Kinda think this Husker team has some frustration to take out on the Bluejays.

This did an ok job for a small area, if you're not far from an outside outlet. https://www.acehardware.com/departments/lawn-and-garden/snow-removal-and-equipment/snow-blowers/75310?x429=true&cid=CAPLA:G:Shopping_-_Snow_Throwers/Accs&k_clickid=52e1417f-1825-4d72-9ff8-0ca1468ffd47&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvLm0jJ333AIVxYuzCh169AYwEAQYAiABEgL75PD_BwE

So your girl Angela Mercurio of the Track Team won NCAA Woman of the Year. That's... kind of a big deal.
