  2. 2015--Got the #1 and #2 player out of Colorado, #1 and #2 out of Nebraska, #2 out of Kansas, #4 and #6 out of Missouri, #2 out of Oklahoma 2016-- #1 from Iowa, #1 from SD, #9 from Illinois, #3 from Minnesota, #7 and 8 from Missouri, #2 and #4 from Colorado, #3 and #8 from Nebraska 2017-- #3 from Missouri, #7 from Oklahoma, #1 and #2 and #3 from Nebraska. This doesn't include Broc Bando who is from Nebraska but was playing in Florida 2018-- #1 and #3 from Nebraska, #5 and #6 from Missouri, #2 from Colorado, #2 from Minnesota, #1 from SD So it looks to me that within the 500 mile radius their 43% of commits are all top 9 in their state. Seems like a good haul. Care to qualify it again?

  6. Mark Richt, Scott Frost, Justin Fuentes etc say hello.....That's an excuse. We took a 4* safety moved to CB, Kalu to safety....Only Injuries allowed Decker and Jaimes to start.....OZ basically missing, jut recently, after 7 games realizing we need to get the TE's in the game. That's incompetent coaching, roster management and development.

  7. I don't really blame him for being upset. His kid thought he was getting into a certain situation and now that is likely to change. Would be nice if more people would think ahead a little bit to how their comments are going to look but whatever. California commits by class: 2017 - Gebbia, KJJ, Blades 2016 - Jackson, POB, Dismuke, Grim 2015 - Alston, Snyder 2014 - None 2013 - Newby, Stanton, Kondolo 2012 - TBrown, ZAnderson, CWhitaker 2011 - Stafford, Carter 2010 - Enunwa, Mitchell 2009 - DWashington, Martinez, Martin, Middleton, Kerr, Gomes 2008 - Meredith, Toailoa, Hetzer 2007 - ZLee, AStafford, Helu 2006 - AJones, Purify, Nicks, Holt, SAllen, AWest, BJohnson, Culbert, Thenarse 2005 - Picou, Hickman, Dagunduro, Congdon, Spain, Picou, Wilson, Lucky 2004 - CThomas, Davis, McCray, Adams 2003 - DeLone 2002 - Smith 2001 - Guidry, Landingham 2000 - Marshall, BThomas, Collins 1999 - Waldrop, Henderson Frank didn't have much luck in Cali. Callahan got a lot of guys to sign but struck out a lot. Bo got several contributes from there. Riley has done a good job getting interest but so far there hasn't been much in the way of game-changers - though Gebbia might be the best.

  10. The best thing for Bookie is for Riley to be fired. He can switch commitment to Clemson and look honorable in doing so. People are insane to think kids with the caliber of our current 6 4* recruits for 2018 are seriously coming here if Riley stays. They want to win. They look at the sh!t show we put on week after week, the poor roster management, the completely clueless pressers and lack of development and they'll give a big hell no to the program. They won't be coming if Riley stays either.....His dismissal is a way to bow out gracefully for the kids. Watch film on Bookie. Kid is a ball hawking freak. A physical, press CB. You think he wants to play in our scheme i.e. 10 yards off he ball........Or come here as CB and get moved to his "natural position" at safety where he can be the "best safety in the nation"...... Best of luck to all the kids who go elsewhere. Hope Bookie ends up at Clemson if he dumps NU. Venables and Reed at Clemson will have him balling out in no time.

  11. They sorted 247's team recruiting rankings by average rating per recruit. I actually count us 16 but something like that. We're at #34 in the actual class rankings but we're still hanging in there on average ranking due to having a few highly-rated players and not a lot of total commits. We will be dropping like a rock shortly for at least a couple different reasons.

  17. It's pretty well understood that Clinton lost to Trump and the myriad reasons why, BRB. He rose the middle finger to the establishment and won. It's forever engrained in our history. It's not really something I care to re-legislate. What matters now is where we go from here. My point is that paying for opposition research is neither a crime nor inadvisable. After all, PACs and orgs like the DNC/RNC do plenty of oppo research in house. Sometimes they contract that work out. As zoogs stated, this oppo research was originally commissioned by a rival GOP campaign (long rumored to be Jeb!, though his camp denies this as well) & merely taken over by the Democrats after the primaries. It was reported by progressive outlet Mother Jones back in October 2016 that they had done so, too. I'd like to point out that the guy that collected this intel on Trump/Russia, Christopher Steele, is ex-MI6. As in, James Bond MI6. You don't make it into Her Majesty's Secret Service if you're an unreliable asset. Being an ex-spy is the only way Steele could have had the contacts to actually collect this info. Regardless, he seems to be a credible source. We've always known that our own intel agencies didn't verify what he collected as certifiable fact because it was collected from Steele's own sources, which they can't directly verify. But they deemed it of high enough significance to brief both Obama & president-elect Trump on it last fall... AND pay him to continue gathering intel from his sources: Regardless, Clinton made very little, if any, use of the allegations in this dossier. That's a far cry from Trump asking Russia to hack her emails. That's the other difference. With the former, Americans compelled an ALLY to help gather oppo on a rival campaign. On the other, Trump straight up asked a hostile ADVERSARY to damage his opponent and indeed both he & his family/inner circle went on to meet with them in furtherance of that end. Miles apart, IMO. And no, I don't want another Clinton investigation. The spineless morons who make up the House Judiciary & House Intel Committees have sat around with their thumbs up their butts for almost a year now, seeing nothing from Trump that warranted investigating. Devin Nunes, Chairman of the Intel Committee, ran to the White House in the dead of night to have the Trump White House feed him some nonsense trying to implicate Obama folks in "unmasking" & had to recuse from their Russia investigation when it was discovered the degree to which he was carrying water for Trump. Mind you, he continued issuing subpoenas & running interference after he recused because he thought no one would notice. Gowdy is the same weasely-looking moron from all the Benghazi investigations. They are some of the most explicitly partisan, tribal jackwagons imaginable. They have no business claiming to offer any type of real oversight. They're going to waste more taxpayer dollars on another fishing expedition designed purposely to damage partisan rivals (some of them have admitted as much on live TV!) while avoiding any kind of real oversight of Dear Leader. Anybody who thinks any of these chuckleheads are acting in good faith is sorely mistaken. But instead, we'll get another X amount of months chasing the Clintons down rabbitholes and a complete abdication of any kind of duty to act as a check on the rampant, flagrant misbehavior of the man in the White House. Terrific.

  20. Well I'm glad the Ground Zero 7 on 7 cleared it up. If we fire Riley, we lose all those awesome recruits who have to yet play a down of football at a P5 school.....Of course if we keep him, all of this great 4-5* talent with multiple offers would love to come here and get their a$$es kicked by teams with a pulse. And this gem: “If they get fired, that connection is done, I can tell you that,” Hawkins told Land of 10. “I wouldn’t send a kid to Nebraska without [cornerbacks coach] Donte Williams being there. We trust Donte with our kids. The CB's might be the weakest link on D.....Jones hurt hasn't helped, but I've seen nothing to say D Williams can flat out develop kids. And I'm a 4-5* DB, I'm sure as hell not coming to some school where my only NFL tapes show me getting beat like a drum and giving a 10 yard cushion when the O needs 5...... And the great recruiters? We are pulling in Bo like classes with OSU results......

While I don't think players from any area are better/tougher than any others...I also don't think some 15 year old starting his 10th grade season is worried about if some old man he doesn't know is getting canned or not...I am sure he is more worried about school, sports, friends, girls, parties, driving, girls, sports, music, girls, friends, parties, clothes, girls, friends, girls, movies, sports, girls, working out, girls, family, school, girls, food, sports, girls, food, food, food, girls, sports, netflix, snapchat, texting, snapchat, girls, texting...you get the idea.

  22. I'd rather it dry up, the California kids have proven to be not as tough minded as Texas and Midwestern kids. I would rather get back to hitting those aread hard, and then some coastal speed, particularly from FL and the N. East. The mindset is what is missing here, you haven't arrived already, you need to want to work to play.

  25. 2017 Game 8 “Expert” Picks: Nebraska at Purdue ————— CollegeFootballNews.com http://collegefootballnews.com/2017/10/nebraska-purdue-prediction-game-preview There’s still time to save this, Nebraska – at least somewhat. The chance to win the Big Ten title might be reasonably gone, but there’s a shot at redemption over the second half of the season. Win this, win at home against Northwestern, and then split against Minnesota and Iowa – or, in a perfect world, shock Penn State in Happy Valley – and at least it’ll be a bowl season. Purdue is also 3-4, and it also has a manageable schedule over the finishing kick – the road game at Iowa is probably the toughest remaining game. But the Boilermakers are playing with house money at this point. The program is on the uptick under Jeff Brohm, and there’s a sign of life again after so many years of ugliness. But there’s been a slide with three losses in the last four games. It’s just the sixth game between the two schools. Purdue won the first time around in 1958, but the Huskers have won three of the four meetings since Nebraska joined the Big Ten. One Reason Why Purdue Will Win Purdue has to win the turnover margin. The defense hasn’t been great at getting into the backfield, but it’s among the best in the Big Ten at forcing takeaways. Winning the turnover battle doesn’t guarantee anything with the Boilermakers – they were a -2 in the loss to Rutgers last week, and in the win over Minnesota a few weeks ago – but the D has come up with nine picks on the year including three of Lamar Jackson and five over the last three games. Tanner Lee has been better. The Husker quarterback has only thrown two interceptions over the last three games, but he’s still cranked up 11 on the season and should be good for at least one big mistake. Purdue has to capitalize on everything, because … One Reason Why Nebraska Will Win The Boilermaker offense has stopped scoring. The yards are there – the O cranked up 474 yards against Rutgers – but they aren’t leading to points. The Boilermakers only scored 12 points in the loss to the Scarlet Knights, scored nine in the loss to Wisconsin, and scored ten in the loss to Michigan. Nebraska’s defense had problems against Wisconsin and Ohio State, but it’s been fine when it hasn’t had to deal with an elite offense. With two weeks off to get ready, it should be able to handle a Purdue running game that doesn’t rely on power and isn’t getting too much of a push up front. Nebraska can be powered on, and it’ll have problems against teams that can push the ball deep. Purdue can’t do either one. What’s Going To Happen Will the time off do the Huskers any good? Purdue might not be scoring in bunches, but neither is Nebraska. The loss of RB Tre Bryant to a knee injury takes away another option from a Husker ground attack that wasn’t lighting the world on fire to begin with. That means even more of the offense will fall on Lee’s shoulders, and that means more passes, and that means a few picks for the Boilermakers to turn into points. Don’t expect anything wacky – this certainly won’t be the 55-44 fun show-Boilermaker win the last time these two met in West Lafayette in 2015 – but after losing to Rutgers, Purdue will happily take the win after going +2 in turnover margin. 28. Reagan would be the furthest left Repub (maybe even be a Dem) in today's politics. Barack Obama has stated that his politics would have made him a Repub in the 1980's. The best description I've got for the Trump version of the Repubs is Nationalism with tinges of Fascism. They're about seizing and maintaining power, everything else is secondary including ideologies and governing.

  30. Yes, I have family members who are surprise I'm not all "in" for Trump esp wt my long term conservative republican back ground. I remind them that Trump is neither conservative nor republican in his core. He is opportunistic at his core. If Hillary had not run on the Dem side, Trump may have ran as a Dem. He'd just change his colors as he has no core values.

  31. Craig Bohl might be one of those guys that is a better HC than a coordinator. He has done well picking jobs. NDSU and Wyoming. He can cherry pick UNL and others in the area and find talent that hasn't been noticed or is under developed. I think he will end up doing well at Wyoming.

  37. That strikes me as funny considering the softest of west coast teams, UCLA, looked much more mentally tough than aTm in the opener. They came back and beat aTm after being down to by 500 at the half.

  38. I heard someone interviewing Scott recently and the interviewer asked Scott if it was embarrassing/flattering the amount of kattention he was getting as an 'up and coming coach'. Scott said he really didn't pay attention to that stuff when he's at work. He has seen it on Twitter but has stopped looking because right now his main concern is to get his team ready each week for whoever they are playing. That's smart. At this moment in time he is the head coach for UCF. At this moment Mike Riley is our head coach. We have 5 games left to play. I know what I would like to see at the end of this season but right now we have to support our boys. GBR!

  39. Calibraska didn't start with Coach Riley and it certainly won't end if he goes. Read this : https://hailvarsity.com/s/1624/nebraskas-all-time-all-california-team Going all the way back to 1973-current, 30 of NU's recruiting classes have had two or more Californians. The '05 class had 9! Steve Taylor, Taylor Martinez, Lawrence Phillips, Ralph Brown, Brendan Stai, Quincy Enunwa, Roy Helu -- there are several standouts! Gebbia's dad has a right to be upset if Riley goes -- don't blame him one bit. But Coach 7 on 7 -- whatever -- doesn't sound like he's pushing Nebraska anyways, just Coach Williams.
    2 points
  40. I don’t think Gebbia was out of line. He gave an answer that his son really likes the staff and is happy where he is. I find it very interesting that people bashing the Cali kids were possibly the ones excited to get Keyshawn Jr and others. The connection to Bookie came with them as well. Now, these people have turned and said that Nebraska/midwestern kids are better. There are great Midwest kids...I coach here in the Midwest and know this. We need a mix of kids and the connections to top tier kids are more important than ever with how college football is now. Saying good riddance to a connection in a hot bed state is very silly IMO.

  41. So we have the dad of a true freshman QB telling NU fans how we should feel about a coach who has shown nothing but poor results at Nebraska. Someone needs to tell Mr. Gebbia that NU recruited Californian well before his son and his friends were even born, and I am sure NU will be able to recruit California after Riley is fired.

  43. I get the feeling that some people feel like the act of throwing money at a coach or really any problem in life is what creates results. It's still the person you hire. The money is still just a tool to bring in more options. The problem isn't that Mike Riley isn't getting paid what he's worth, the problem is aren't paying the right person. I think the last thing any of us want is to both pick the wrong guy and overpay him.
    2 points
  44. I'll tell you exactly what I said, and it's probably searchable somewhere on this board: I said that I felt like Eichorst was hiring a "nobody" that was too nice to fire. And that there's no such thing as "too nice to fire" in Lincoln. Eichorst's tunnel vision for Riley was complete stupidity. He openly talked to the press about how he was even looking at him when he was at Miami. I wanted to spend big money on a coach that had consistently competed for or won at least conference titles as a head coach of a Power 5 conference. It seems slap-you-in-the-face obvious that it's what we should have done. I would have even put up with 1-2 more seasons of Bo's inability to win a conference title to find that guy. Now that Frost does have head coaching experience and is obviously (at least somewhat of) a burgeoning success, the idea of him as our #1 target has really grown on me and I'd be thrilled to bring him in for 2018. Absolutely thrilled.
