  1. Best win: getting Frost. /end thread.

  2. When you have Wyoming as one of the options to choose from is all you need to know about the Mike Riley Era hahaha

  3. 2015 Michigan State won the B1G and made it to the CFB Playoff.

  4. Your anecdotal opinion doesn't matter - they were a premiere team, who beat the #4, #9, #11, and #19 teams in the nation, won their conference, and made the playoff. That's a great team, period. Please. Sparty has outperformed Michigan in every capacity possibly imaginable over the last decade, including 8-2 head to head.

  7. DoNU fan after upsetting Sparty in 2015: Man, this is awesome! Maybe we're gonna start pulling our heads out of our butts and get things rolling! Things are gonna be ok! Narrator: But things were not ok, and heads were not pulled out of butts...

  8. I would almost put the MSU game as the "worst win" because all that did was get the RiledUppers all riled up..."See...this is what Riley does, he does more with less, he takes an underdog team and beats the big dog"

  9. Huh? He's saying it's easy to say in May that your QBs are good. They're not actually playing actual games. We heard all spring and summer that Lee was going to be really good. It was easy for people to say it then. Much harder when he was throwing pick sixes. Obviously something could change in what you're saying, as soon as September, if our QBs play horribly. Then I'd wager the coaches and players wouldn't be happy with the QB room. Much harder to say you're happy with the QBs when they're playing badly in games.

  10. Gonna try something new for the offseason: let's find out which win of the Mike Riley era (error?) is considered the best by the board. I've gone through each season's schedule and pulled 5 games that could be considered the best wins of Riley's tenure. We can debate for a week, put it to a vote and decide. If there is a game that isn't listed, vote for "other", and explain your choice. Note 1: I'm planning on doing a "Worst Loss" thread as well Note 2: The Riley era was so bad, I originally had two losses in the "Best Win" column. Game 1: 2015 Michigan State http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400763560 - This game was marked by a wonderful drive by Tommy Armstrong at the end of the game, driving the offense down and scoring with less than a minute left on a controversial TD pass to Brandon Reilly. Game 2: 2015 UCLA http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400852720 - This game was RtDB guy's wet dream. Armstrong, Ozigbo and Cross pounded the UCLA defense, with 46 carries between the three. Also marked by a controversial ejection of Nate Gerry on a pitch-perfect tackle in the second quarter. Game 3: 2016 Wyoming http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400869187 - Most points scored in the Riley era. Armstrong throws for almost 400 yards, and the defense picks future first rounder Josh Allen off 5 times. Game 4: 2016 Oregon http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400869113 - Riley finally gets a win over Oregon. Marked by another gusty performance by Armstrong, scoring the go-ahead TD from 34 yards out with roughly 2 minutes left. Game 5: 2017 Purdue http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400935395 - The final win of 2017 was punctuated by a comeback led by Tanner Lee with under one minute left.

  11. Here is Gabrielle Union talking about her beloved Cornhuskers on Late Night with James Corden. Great shout outs. http://journalstar.com/entertainment/misc/video-on-late-night-tv-gabrielle-union-talks-about-how/youtube_d99414a8-fe72-56c1-a019-5621504024df.html

  14. My only concern is we felt that way after our tournament season and the wheels fell off. Teams adjust and get tape on teams. While we dont lose any massive pieces, we do lose some depth. I hope we can fill the last scholly opening with a grad transfer who can play right away down low.

  15. Griffin was a 6'1 - 205 DB before Frost showed up at UCF. After a spring and summer with Frost's staff he weighed in at 213, was moved to LB and finished the season with 11.5 sacks and 20 tackles for loss. I don't think anybody is saying Dixon will put up those numbers, but there are certainly similarities to their past positions and body types. Dixon is the type of player the staff wants at the outside linebacker position.

  16. It's possible, but I would assume he will take more visits. Referring to the other posts he would primarily be OLB rushing the passer, maybe a few plays with his hand in the dirt. In our defense most WDEs will be OLBs for us depending on size/agility

  17. At least we know he intends to give it another go. All you can do is moderate the hell out of his reps and see how it goes.

  19. This. He is a situational player. Any situation the other team has the ball and is trying to score he will be playing.

  20. Wanting to start doesn't make him a prima donna. And just because he wants to start doesn't mean he's going to demand that a coach promise him the starting job.

  21. "In that vein..." not vain. Sorry...don't mean to be the grammar or spelling police. But yeah, I completely 2nd the notion of using "Hip hip hooray" as an offense worthy of being banned.

  23. Oh I will, Peter Griffin was just the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the topic title. It’s good off season filler material....no offense to the OP. I am so looking forward to the time soon when most of us won’t even remember the name of the coach preceding SF. And in that vain, I would like to propose that posting “hip hip hooray” for any reason should be a bannable offense.

  24. That was awesome. Gabrielle Union is so hot--hubba hubba hubba. James Corden also does a segment on this show called Drop The Mic and it is usually pretty awesome.

  27. FFA Even if we go undefeated, we'd be hard pressed as a program to crack the Top 40, but I appreciate Miles' enthusiasm and willful naivety. We just need to realize we're not Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, Villanova, Michigan, or any other basketball school that has failed to obtain base competence in another sport, and that we'll be on the outside looking in for the NCAA Tourney if we don't lose to anyone.

  29. Got a couple of them for you. First, I'll just leave White House Chief of Staff John Kelly's comments on immigrants here: I don't know if it's outright racist, but it's sure as hell ignorant. I'm getting really tired of the old white men in this administration talking down to immigrants & telling everyone else how the world ACKSHULLY works.

  31. Every sport has unwritten rules, and unwritten allowance of rules that are written. I think it'd be great if the NBA called more proper travels or amended the rulebook to match how they currently call them. But that has 0% bearing on whether the NBA is still the sport of basketball or not.

  33. Except, performance wise, he's a low level athlete. He hasn't done jack squat in his athletic career post high school to warrant such an absurd self-aggrandizing ego.

  34. Good point about his value in coverage. He was a safety at Ole Miss, so he is used to being in coverage. My guess is that he will be a hybrid backer who blitzes some times and stays out in coverage at times. His amount of PT will also depend on the opponent, like you mention.

  35. Great news! I would think he would have major value in coverage too. Probably a bigger asset against some of the uptempo opponents we face rather than the grinders like Wisconsin and Iowa.

  36. Probably a situational player. He isn’t quite big enough to be an every down player right now, but he could be a very good situational pass rusher from the OLB spot.

  37. I think the quickly accelerating thaw between North and South Korea since the Olympics can only be a good thing, and if Donald Trump has to get credit for it, I'll go along for the sake of world peace. But if it was Barack Obama playing into North Korea's hand, Fox News would be chewing him to pieces. Kim Jung Un craves legitimacy in a way we can't understand, and it doesn't really require much of the U.S. Maybe the only thing that comes out of it is the photo op the Kim's have always wanted. If it lowers the temperature a few degrees for a few years, it's probably worth it. Did I just say "lower the temperature" in a scenario involving Donald Trump? Yeah. That's the part that worries me. But I think they've already scripted this as his Gorbechev/Reagan moment, so they will choreograph a triumph devoid of any actual negotiation. His approval rating will spike and the GOP will get a big lift in the midterms. It's gonna be a win/win for both dictators.

  38. It's those helmets they stole from Princeton. It's a B1G thing going way back (that we used to complain about until we joined). It's the same reason we have to play at a whore named Ann Arbor three times before we get a second home game. p.s. - http://www.spartanjerseys.com/michigan-state-football-jersey-helmet/winged-helmet/
