Just one correction to what you've said. JD isn't a star in the making. He is a star right now without question.9 points

Just to add to this discussion: Stanley Morgan Jr needs to average 89 yards per game for the rest of the season to get to 1,000. Needs to average 78 per game for the rest of the season to be All Time receiving yards leader. Spielman needs to average 77 yards per game for the season to get to 1,000. He's only 12 yards shy of knocking Matt Davison out of the top 10 all time receiving yards. He needs 27 receptions to be #1 single season reception leader4 points

AM has lived up to the all the hype that came with him and exceeded it so far IMHO. And is great addition to the school and team. I look forward to another 3 1/2 years with him at the helm. The thing that has probably surprised me the most is his ability to throw deep. Man, does he deliver a beautiful ball when he has time. We've had so many QB's in the past years who would have a wide open receiver downfield and under throw, over throw or just plain miss them. AM more times than not just hit them in stride.3 points

Didn’t know where else to put this but I was looking at NCAA’s stats to see how some of our guys compared to the rest of the nation. AM 23rd in comp% 37th in passing ypg Spielman 24th in receiving ypg 12th in receptions per game Morgan 48th in receiving ypg Ozigbo 40th in rushing ypg 6th in ypc Bootle 5th in passes defended3 points

Ozigbo is a big loss, he's been a stud. Having Washington back helps and guys like Miles Jones and Mazour should be ready to contribute more. We don't have a bigger back, but that's where Mills would be good. Throw in probably one of the new freshman contributing like Washington this year and I'm pretty excited. Morgan is also a huge loss, and I think there are fewer options behind him. We need a bunch of guys to take big steps in year 2, but there is talent. Woodyard, Williams, Hunt, McQuitty, and Warner are all options but even assuming they develop it's a step down. I think Farmer and Foster are better than they're given credit for, but neither are irreplaceable. Center does concern me since the next man up seems to be a walk-on Sophmore (H. Miller) and I don't think Jurgens will be ready next year. He needs 30-40 pounds and is learning a brand new position - if he is the guy great, but I'm not counting on it yet. Maybe Will Farniok or Raridon are options. But the tackles and Wilson return, and I'm confident we can find another guard, probably Desmond Bland. D-line we lose Freedom, Stoltenberg and Newell. They've all been good, but I don't think head and shoulders above the returning depth. NT is a little concerning since we're pretty much down to Daniels and C. Davis there, but Fair (Juco) will help and we'll find out if Vainuku needed a year to get back into football or if that was a miss. LB - Young is gone, but if Honas comes back healthy I actually feel better about the ILBs. Maybe a little worse in coverage, Young looks lost sometimes but then others he blankets the guy. Haven't really seen Honas cover. Depth is still a problem there, but I bet either Henrich or Hannah rotate in as a freshman. Gifford will be missed, but I like a healthy Ferguson/Tannor combination. Still need depth, really just counting on 2nd year growth there. We lose a lot of Safeties, that could be interesting in a bad way. Dismuke has made it onto the field a few times, and I do really like Deontai. If Domann is healthy I feel a lot better, but there's a reason we're offering Juco safeties.3 points

Just to put the numbers out there: Over the past 10 full years (2008-2017) Nebraska had a record of 85-47 and a winning percentage of .643. That is the 22nd most wins and 24th best win percentage in the country over that span. Teams ranked 25-28 in win percentage over that span are in order - Navy, Notre Dame, Auburn and Iowa. Over that last 10 year span Michigan State had 93 wins (+8) Penn State had 89 wins (+4) Notre Dame had 82 wins (-3) Texas had 78 wins (-7) and Michigan had 74 wins (-11).3 points

Man, that 2014 OL class. Foster, Farmer, and Gates - all 4* guys coming out of high school. I still wonder what might have been if they hadn't been put through The Mike Riley Experience...3 points

Yeah these athletes are sure getting exploited playing a game, getting rockstar status, and a free "education." Sure they work hard but so does every other college student and they get no compensation. These kids get their school paid for. They get a lot of perks. And they're still just playing a game. Grad students get their research used by the universities. You don't always get compensated in life.2 points

Can I just say something here? I don't think we're a long way off. We're turnovers, penalties and a some killer instinct away from being competitive this year. It's not just about individual talent. This year's returning Buy Ins will be joined by a new group of players wanting to be here and with a lot to prove. They have to be more cohesive and disciplined. There's no other choice. Purdue just beat the crap out of Ohio State. We don't have a long way to go to become Purdue. Ergo, we are competing for the division next year.2 points

Sorry, perhaps showing my age, back in the early 90s baseball "superstar" Fred McGriff starred in a baseball instructional video. It was incessantly advertised on ESPN ad nauseum. Unnecessary sidenote: he was my best hitter on my old Super Nintendo game, Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball.2 points

Also didn’t say anything about early playing time mattering. Mostly talked about distance from home but BB didn’t confirm that it mattered or not.1 point

Our depth is too thin. I see our D performance drop off in the third quarter - conditioning or depth? We need some more horses to shuttle in and out of the game. That will take another year or two of recruiting. The last two games I've seen a coaching bonus not seen for years. These coaches took guys previously without heart and had them following the ball all game long. They didn't quit mid play.1 point

I hope Brohm stays at Purdue. The B1G West needs good coaches at all schools to make the division better.1 point

Just curious: Was Ohio State on Purdue's preseason "list of wins" ??? There's a reason they actually play the games.1 point

If Brohm did stick around, Robinson/Moore would be terrifying. He does a great job getting the ball into Moore's hands, with 2 elite athletes that just gets easier. But, even if he stays for another year or two you're playing for another staff by junior year, and probably earlier.1 point
