Trev should hold all interviews in front of a wall, and if he doesn’t run through said wall within 2 minutes of talking with the candidate, he should end the interview abruptly and throw the candidate through this same wall.

I really don't care at this point. There is no unanimously agreed-upon choice. No matter who is hired there will be a portion of fans that don't like it.

I look at the top 10 every year, near the end of the year and it's always filled with Nike schools. Even now. Tennessee switched from Adidas to Nike I believe in either 2015/2016. Is it time for Nebraska to join the club and become a Nike school? Adidas makes up 28% of CFB teams while Nike is well over 50% and Under Armour is a distant 3rd. I know, I know, apparel brand is the least of this programs problems but isn't it time to move on to Air Jordan or Nike? Considering how our NIL brand is and will be solid in the years to come, along with the new facility, and soon reconstruction of Memorial, a brand change could be necessary. In order to hire a successful coach and staff, I also believe that Nike swoop logo is more lucrative for NIL, recruits, and our present student athletes in the long run. Is it still too late for Suh to build a NIKE Town in Lincoln? This is something that is overlooked and we have to get with it. I think young athletes today have a preference when it comes to apparel.

Here's an honest question regardless of if you're for or against hiring Mickey as HC: Would any other coach that was placed in the same situation as Mickey as interim HC have done any better?

I think he shot himself in the foot by saying he's hands off with Whipple and that he can just do what he wants. There's no way you can convince me that Purdy is better than Smothers. And after witnessing that blazing 3rd quarter performance, I think Haarberg should get playing time just to see what he can do.

Honest question? Do you follow him on social media? Have you watched any of his pressers? The reason I ask is the Prime, I watched play at FSU and the NFL is not the same guy coaching Jackson St. What he teaches, preaches and coaches is exactly what NU needs. Accountability. Physicality. Responsibility. Do it the "right way". Preparing young men to be better. Sounds a lot like the "Nebraska way". Pretty confident there won't be rumors with Prime like those that surrounded Frost and his crew. 3 games in this year, he demoted a good friend on his staff from OC to a position coach. The reason? at 3-0 the run game wasn't up to snuff. He can recruit his a$$ off by just being himself. If the player doesn't "know" him, the parents do. Hall of Fame NFL player. Contacts galore. For he above reasons alone, I'd take a shot with him. We'd be winning quicker than most would believe. He has 8-10 4* kids on the roster IIRC already at J St To add, the media publicity alone would be worth it's weight in gold.

People should've been over those hype videos a decade ago. Every program with above average resources has a marketing dept. that pumps out hype videos, but we all truly know they don't really matter. Good teams find ways to stay good, and bad teams will just continue being bad. It's high time more of the fan base started to act like they actually cared about winning during the season vs. the off-season. Hell, half of this thread is a select group of people trying to convince the rest of us that one particular coach's media clout is seemingly more valuable than several coaches who have quantifiable, tangible, and successful FBS coordinating/head coaching experience.

Couldn’t agree more. We can’t keep on the same track with another lame duck hire that takes five years to rebuild. With the dumpster fire state of this program, we need to try something completely different, especially now that the landscape has changed. Go all in on a new approach, new branding with new energy and excitement to the program. We need this desperately for recruiting. Deion comes in and the hiring announcement would immediately blow up and get national attention and get the interest of top recruits. Deion, NIL and the new facilities will help seal the deal with top recruits.

What makes you the ultimate say so on that?! I don’t give two s#!ts about what his “established persona” is or isn’t he would be a huge hire here and win pretty immediately here. Besides us pee on’s don’t dictate what Trev does with this hire. He don’t give two s#!ts about what we think that’s why we haven’t heard a peep about the search. He has his own inner circle that knows and we won’t find out for another 4ish weeks.

I think this notion of "fit for the program" is nonsense. We need to win football games and fans/boosters egos, biases, and hangups be damned. Don't cheat or do illegal things but beyond that people around the program need to open their minds and shut their mouths. Hire someone who can get the job done, period.

I don't care if anyone at all likes the choice as long as that coach comes in and wins. Fans don't need to like the hire, they need to end up liking the coach once he's doing the job.

Agreed. Mickey has less than a 2% chance at getting the HC job at this point. Meyer or Bielema would have this program completely turned around by the 2nd year.

As much as I hate to say it, I am done with former Huskers as coaches. We lose our objectivity when they are one of our own. Frost should've never gotten year 4. Ruud should have never been hired. I think we'd have the same issues with MJ IF he didn't show improvement each year. Clean the slate. Shoot for the stars. Get a jam up recruiter. Guy who can develop and improve what we have. Knows the transfer portal. We are a dumpster fire. Bielema in year 2.....29 yards the 2nd half......No bowling in 6 years. No winning season in 6 years...No beating a ranked team.....No depth...No development.....The list of lack of accomplishments is staggering.

Season is over. Has been for a long time. Need to see what you have in the QB room with younger players and make some decisions. Start evaluating the entire team starters and bench players. That means some young players need to be rotated in. No need to try to win games at this point. More important to look at what is on the team for the future

Whipple had been recruiting him at his last school and now it looks like another celebrity deal just like the failed McCaffrey one. I hope Whipple doesn't cause Smothers and Haarberg to leave. Personally, I would've been getting Haarberg ready a long time ago.

I agree this is a rebuilt, total mess, might need a 5 year contract. But it's really kind of dumb to think of the team that way and then be willing to count Mickey out because he hasn't turned the team around in 2 months. If Mickeys the best coach available, so be it. But he's not running his program right now. If you truly think this team is that screwed then the teams performances now shouldn't be on Mickey.

This is a complete rebuild. You have to give the job to a great recruiter who will bring guys in and give that coach time. The current guys can't be fixed. The complete lack of talent is shocking.

Lane Kiffin would get elite coordinators and coaches like Mickey to come here and do their job. He lost his DC because Ole Miss would not shell the money to keep him. He also lost his OC and the offense is just as good. They are running the ball effectively and that would get a lot of people on here excited if Nebraska could run it half as good as they did tonight. Kiffin would bring an elite staff from the get go to give Nebraska success. He runs an exciting offense and brings some drama, but he has overall matured enough to be ready for this job. It might be difficult to get LK, but a lot of things he complains about at Mississippi would not happen here. Like paying coaches enough to stay, fan attendance, NIL among others. On top of that, he would not have to go through the gauntlet of the SEC West every year.

I didn't learn anything about the team. I doubt the coaches. I doubt the players. I doubt the admin. I doubt Trev. They all suck. I don't want to hear anymore about Mickey. He's a fraud just like the rest of them. So called elite recruiter. Well it appears to me he's recruited garbage, which is about all this dead and shameful program deserves. Anyone who takes two weeks to prepare and results in that effort. Nah...you're a terrible coach just like the last jacka$$ The hilarious thing is I didn't watch a single snap. This game was the worst of the day, boring, unwatchable. Sad for fans that pack the stadium. Mickey took a hit today. He didn’t really get anything out of the team. Looked like a Frost coached team. The hate on Whipple is too much IMO, not sure any OC can shine this turd with the worst OL in P5. The in game thread wanted to run the ball but there was no where for Grant to run as our OL is awful. This offense is most effective moving CT out of the pocket to try to make throws. Yes that sucks but that is all we have! We have no backup QB. To see a backup at Kansas ball out vs what we have is disheartening. The defense continues to suck. The DL is slow and stiff, no athleticism or agility maybe outside of Nelson, on either line. The LBs are the slowest in the B1G. Newsome is a bright spot on a mediocre secondary but the front 7 gives the secondary no help, the front 7 to me is more of the problem than a worn out secondary having to cover and tackle in space because the front 7 rarely gets pressure or gets the ball carrier down at first contact. This is a burn it down rebuild. It better be a serious P5 experienced coach or Deion. Deion will be a P5 coach and it could be Auburn here soon. The laughing can stop because currently we are the laughingstock. We need someone that can get top players here and then develop them into elite players. Deion checks the first box better than most, developing players and competing in the B1G is the question. We need to get the best coach and staff to meet this requirement. Anything short of this is a complete failure.
