Diaco owns this game. The absolute refusal to get out of the base schemes to go into dime packages to cover the underneath routes was stunning and bordering on inept.

What does this mean? There is no "group think" on this site when it comes to football. There are people at the extreme opposite ends of the spectrum and most are in the rational and realistic middle. Not sure what you mean when you say "typical of this site and this group of fans". I'd be very leery of any site where apparently all the opinions are the same. Does that place even exist?

We learned- 1- The defense needs some work. If your front 3 can't generate quicker pressure then you sure as hell better not play 10 yards off the ball with your corners. Not sure if it's the scheme, our front 3 or soft db play....or the combination. 2- Tanner Lee is the real deal. How nice to see a guy that can distribute the ball and make the throws. 3- Tre Bryant is fun to watch. Wilson did fine in limited action and where was Ozigbo? Running backs are not a concern. 4- Langs still doesn't know how to use the clock. 5- Gifford played a heckuva game...Lee Jr. didn't. The Jones loss hurts. 6- Thought the O line showed some improvement, even as the game went on. 7- Arky State has game and they were not intimidated in the least but they had no business making it the game they did. We've got a lot of stuff to cleanup before Oregon or conference play.

That this staff can recruit at a borderline top 25 level, but can't gameplan, or manage a game. Terrible defense aside, we could have gotten out with a 14 point win, and less drama if they hadn't tried to throw out all over the yard the last few drives.

This team is still an average team.

I'm not. I know it takes time to get used to the new staff and the adjustments they have implemented, but this sh#t wears thin year after year.

Tell ya what I like more than anything ... he's in touch with and seems close to Avery. I think he (Avery) is a non-showboat, committed, focused guy. Nobody in this class I'd want on the inside of Parson's head than him. Also, that he was a PSU "shoe in" that chose us, from the east coast. Lots to like here.

If Riley's system can't work with a NFL-level QB, it ain't gonna work. I see national media looking at a new QB and new defensive coordinator and thinking "rebuild season" without realizing both are immediate upgrades.

You're being illogical. The topic was obviously made due to the huge amount of hype surrounding Lee. This poster is tempering his/her expectations, wondering if it could be true. Nobody in this topic has made up their mind. There is nothing weird or wrong with wondering about it.

There are rapid changes going on in urban America and they are hard to understand for a rural kid. If you think football is too dangerous for you or your kid, consider this. Me and my family are from the Sandhills where we do not farm: we ranch out there. A young boy is usually first put on a horse at 5 years old to ride. No helmet. No pads. A 6ft. tall 1000 lb animal. They do this because when you start early you grow to be a better cowboy. Every boy who rides gets bucked off. Sometimes your horse is spooked or has a sandbur under the saddle blanket. Sometimes it steps in a hole or gets a hoof caught on an unseen wire. A good rider as a young man can get extra money breaking horses. That is where you start with a wild horse and ride it until it is broke. It is you against the horse. And your will has to dominate. You will get bucked off, smashed into panels, kicked and bitten. Yes horses can bite. But we dont cry CTE and run to mama. Instead we celebrate and make a sport out of it. And if you think football is hard on a body try bareback riding. My great uncle, and grandpa were NSRA state champions. They did that after serving in the Armed forces, growing up in the depression, AND while raising families. I remember a story my dad got caught in a blizzard on his horse and he was getting attacked by a stallion that only cared about his mare he was only 11 years old. I remember the time he got knocked off his horse directly under two fighting bulls. My friends grandpa when he was teaching them to bulldog ( steer wrestle) if they wouldnt jump off their running horse, he would reach over and jerk them off. By God, you are getting down on that steer whether you want to or not son! You don't get to be that tough by playing lacrosse and eating yogurt at the mall Quite honestly, I have many more stories, but the harsh reality of that way of life would just sound like hyperbole to eastern ears. As kids we would wrestle about 800 kicking calves a year spread out across about 12 brandings. And when we could we played tackle football, no pads. Somebody got hurt almost every time. But we sucked it up. We raced each other on horses, motorcycles, three wheelers and four wheelers. On one of my friends ranch if you get caught walking through the yard, you get run over by an ATV by an ornery brother so you better be fast or tough. All I can say is if you can't handle football you had better keep your pansy ass away from Mullen, or Gordon NE.

Fans need to stop acting like if a coach "holds" something back that it will confuse the sh#t out of the other team so much that they will sh#t themselves.

The on,y thing worse than our defense is this officiating crew. My goodness, how inept.

What I hate the most about NU football. No one is no longer intimidated to play is. No fear, no worry no doubt they can't win.... I miss the de-cleating head hunting D of years gone by....

offense looks fantastic. really just is going to come down to if the D can tighten it up. I'd expect a big jump going forward.

anyone saying Lee isn't good is clearly not watching the game. The guy has put every throw on the money and has been let down consistently by receivers dropping balls they should be catching. That 3rd down throw to Spielman was perfect.

I want to see the defense make a stop where ASU doesn't have killer penalties or dropped passes. So far on our stops we've had a lot of help.
