  1. Long time lurker, noticed over the last week or so you have about 1 positive and 20-30 negatives to say. He does a great job shedding the block and forcing the ball carrier out of bounds. Also, there was no cut back, because if he would've cut, he would've been out of bounds. Thirdly, if you ever have done any real coaching or taken any coaching classes, you always reinforce negatives with a positive. You have no idea what happened after the play, and what was said by the coaches. Overall, it was a great play.

  3. Nobody here wants to encourage bad behavior, but writing a truculent dissertation off of some snippets of practice video isn't the correct approach either. This is exactly why media availability is so limited these days, and for the better, in my opinion. We can't even be trusted to rationally approach what little access we are given.

  4. We all want to believe we live in the greatest country in the world, but metric after metric shows us sliding down the scale. I don't even know if I would put us in the top 10 of best countries to live right now.

  5. I coach form tackling...but I sure don't expect it in a game because I remember that the guy with the ball is trying too. During a game I just want my guy to get their guy to the ground. The only thing I really stress is...See what you hit and low man wins...I toss out some other cliches too but if you clean them up they are not really a sentence.

  6. Not fair to judge Jackson based on this cell phone video taken from way back. His history is what it is we all know that, but you can't look at this one video and totally condemn him. Maybe this was his first poor tackle of the drill. The running back bounced way outside maybe Jackson was letting up so he didn't smash him into teammates that are right there. He also is clearly coming from behind the running back and fighting to get his head in front instead of horse collaring the guy. To bash him off this one video with zero context is unfair and the reason we don't get more media availability. The point of this is Jackson went head to head with his blocker and beat him who cares if that is a redshirt middle schooler he did what he was supposed to. Commend the guy for practicing hard and work with him on his technique. Saying his tackling continues to SUCK when you haven't seen anything besides this one video is bull.

  7. Relax, he knocked the runner out of bounds which counts the same as a take down tackle. The celebration is for 1) winning the rep, which they did, and 2) knocking the blocker into next week. Obviously you'd rather he wrap up and form tackle, but at least he's being physical. Yeah his tackling needs to improve, but it already has over the course of the last year. Jackson bought in and turned his career around, and there's still a section of the fanbase that would rather he fail because they have him pegged a certain way.

  9. I digress..I enjoy everyone's opinion on HB...even yours. I was just trying to point out the irony. I don't post much but have been around long enough to see posters similar to you only last a few short months. Lighten up a bit. It's ok to disagree with people but be open to other peoples opinions, and if need be..move on. Now lets get back to dissecting 5 second twitter highlights.

  10. It's an indoor drill. We have no idea what the coaches are telling the players. I agree that you need to relax.

  17. I’m not coaching him up im commenting on an internet board and I’m negative on the way he tackled last year does anyone really think this kid is even in the 35th percentile for tackling in this league ? Commented on the video i saw in this thread which looked like more of the same from last year which wasn’t good I’ve coached over 25 years and attended dozens of clinics im not coaching him face to face Im commenting on a board to critique you the exact same way you did me if you knew anything about tackling or had coached or taken many tackling classes you would have known his tackling attempt was terrible

  18. I will judge LJ with his play this upcoming season. I saw many times him shying away last year and it was annoying to watch. I think all the fans are hoping he has improved, but want to see it on Saturdays.

  19. Senate Republicans might vote to impeach him if he were unpopular with their voters. But he's not, particularly in red states. He's still got an 85+% approval rating with the base. So he won't be convicted either, also on the basis of politics, regardless of the evidence. If Pelosi is waiting on Mueller to drop his findings to use them as the basis for impeachment, good. That's what should happen. If she's flat out decided against it because she thinks he's beatable next year at the polls, that's a poor leadership if there's evidence he committed crimes.

  20. The way to get at Trump is through his kids. If Don Jr. gets indicted than Trump might resign. Other than that, the republicans don't care what he does, so they will not go along with impeachment. Democrats need to try and beat him in the election.

  21. So when players don’t play like one of the best players we’ve ever hadcplay here, they’re basically worthless? Gotcha i watched the video, I think he’s freakin flying around 100% and I’ll take that effort all day. That’s what practice is for, to get better, and it looks like he is..;even if it’s not wall of fame worthy just yet.

  22. This is the reason so many people hate politicians. Pelosi is weighing whether to impeach based on party politics instead of the merits of the case. If there's evidence to move forward with impeachment, then do it based on the evidence not on what she believes will happen with future elections.

  23. So The Washington Times isn't exactly a non-partisan or respected paper, so I went to learn more about this, as it wasn't publicized anywhere else to my knowledge. I think you both jumped quickly on a flippant comment in a short article with no facts behind it. Here's the bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/1/text I just did a quick perusal, don't have time to read all the details right now, but I will. I see nothing relative to illegal immigrants being granted the right to vote. There is written info on min notice of moving voting site, permitting written statement for proof of ID to vote (more detail below - perhaps the right is stretching this to think an illegal immigrant would do this?), extending rights to family members with spouses serving in the military, accessibility to handicapped people, allowing same day voter registration (also maybe this is where they think the illegals are coming in and voting?) If you look at the bill I don't see how you walk away thinking this has anything to do with illegal immigrants voting. It's making sure young people are registered, that voting locations are where they say they are and have hours that make them accessible. That mail ballots count and early voting should be the norm, that perhaps voting day should be a holiday, and that at age 18 you should be automatically registered to vote. Honestly I'm not sure anybody who reads this would have an issue with any of it (unless you're the McCardle mindset that when more people vote GOP loses) SEC. 303A. PERMITTING USE OF SWORN WRITTEN STATEMENT TO MEET IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS. “(a) Use Of Statement.— “(1) IN GENERAL.—Except as provided in subsection (c), if a State has in effect a requirement that an individual present identification as a condition of receiving and casting a ballot in an election for Federal office, the State shall permit the individual to meet the requirement— “(A) in the case of an individual who desires to vote in person, by presenting the appropriate State or local election official with a sworn written statement, signed by the individual under penalty of perjury, attesting to the individual’s identity and attesting that the individual is eligible to vote in the election; or “(B) in the case of an individual who desires to vote by mail, by submitting with the ballot the statement described in subparagraph (A). “(2) DEVELOPMENT OF PRE-PRINTED VERSION OF STATEMENT BY COMMISSION.—The Commission shall develop a pre-printed version of the statement described in paragraph (1)(A) which includes a blank space for an individual to provide a name and signature for use by election officials in States which are subject to paragraph (1). “(3) PROVIDING PRE-PRINTED COPY OF STATEMENT.—A State which is subject to paragraph (1) shall— “(A) make copies of the pre-printed version of the statement described in paragraph (1)(A) which is prepared by the Commission available at polling places for election officials to distribute to individuals who desire to vote in person; and “(B) include a copy of such pre-printed version of the statement with each blank absentee or other ballot transmitted to an individual who desires to vote by mail. “(b) Requiring Use Of Ballot In Same Manner As Individuals Presenting Identification.—An individual who presents or submits a sworn written statement in accordance with subsection (a)(1) shall be permitted to cast a ballot in the election in the same manner as an individual who presents identification.

  24. Yup, The fake news played the tape live showing the flub that he totally did on purpose, because if there's one thing I know about Trump, he doesn't like to talk when cameras are on him. He's always looking for ways to save words because he is comfortable with silence, and when given the chance will always opt to have someone else talk and he will listen.

  26. so what if the house impeaches....it's meaningless unless the senate follows suit and they are not going to convict no matter what evidence they are shown.

  27. And I think what Pelosi said just corners the GOP in. That when the evidence is presented she wouldn't push for impeachment unless the evidence was very "graphic" (I think that's the word she used, maybe it was Schiff that said graphic). Anyway, I think we need to wait until it's presented. Remember, Nancy was in the gang of 8 that has seen some or all of the info. And she is a forward thinking lady. What she has done is make a public statement saying that she's not chasing impeachment as a political move. That she doesn't support impeachment unless the evidence leads them there. She has not said that she's absolutely won't do it, she's just said the evidence needs to be conclusive and the move needs to be bipartisan. She's played her cards such that the GOP will now have to explain why they are against impeaching a man that there is obvious evidence of criminal actions.

  36. I personally think LJ has came along way under this staff. He is not perfect, or a complete player yet, but he is bought in and only getting better. Just the fact that he is a player that younger guys look up to is a huge start from where he was. The hardest thing to do when teaching a corner to tackle is for him to want to tackle. Now that he is wanting to tackle, the rest is just a matter of time.

  37. Shoulder to hip, wrap, elevate and drive for 5 is great in a controlled practice. Have you ever played football? That's not how it's happen 95% of the time. Should you teach that? Yes. Is it going to happen in a live scenario like this probably not. If you watch that video Jackson cuts back up field to make the tackle. He's not coming head on with the guy. There is no way that he can wrap and elevate when they are both moving upfield. I know you don't teach guys to tackle like this, but the point is he did the best he could in this single scenario to out a shoulder on the hip and drive the guy out if bounds. On the next play he could have hit the guy with a perfect form tackle you have no idea. So to use this single play and say he hasn't improved is nonsense.

  39. Bingo. If the evidence is there, they are responsible to the Constitution & to the voters to do what is correct. No different than a DA not prosecuting a potential felon because he has cancer and may be dead soon (yea bad comparison but you should get my point). The DA and Pelosi have a fiduciary responsibility to prosecute if the evidence is there. Nothing less is dereliction of the duty that the job requires. She and the Dems can no longer point the finger at do nothing Paul Ryan or the GOP sitting on their hands.

  43. I never check out the male body more than I do when I look at Spring Practice picture galleries after Winter workouts. - Jamie Nance looks (really) slight. -McCaffery (at least in these pictures) doesn't look as small as I thought he would. Already looks a little bigger than Gebbia every did (which isn't saying much). -Casey Rogers looks massive. -Tate Wilderman still looks a little small (Wasn't he hurt last year?) -Legrone has put on some size, looks good. -Chris Hickman is way too skinny, but man, that's a helluva frame to put some weight on. -Jameis looks different, in a good way. -Andre Hunt has bulked up. -Darrion Daniels looks like a giant human being.... So does his brother, Damion. -Garrett Nelson's body looks like that of a 5 year NFL veteran.

  45. 1). Yes, it's a duh for the country, it'll save money in the long run, and it's long overdue. The lives and welfare of fellow citizens shouldn't be held hostage based on how much they earn and getting sick shouldn't ever result in financial ruin. 2). Yes, for public research institutions. A Degree is a requirement anymore for even some of the s#!ttiest of entry level jobs, but having a well educated population benefits almost everyone. Long gone are the days where you can walk into somewhere and slap your resume down, hope they like you and get training on the job. That has been pushed onto the public. 3). Europe is nice and some of those countries do some smart things in their public policy... I guess the blanket dismissal of any policies that originate there comes from this country's puritan roots, but you treat this like it's mutually exclusive, it's not. There are things the government can, should, and would do better than private companies. Those things are in best interest of the country such as keeping a healthy and educated workforce, researching things for the common good (like cures to diseases), funding space exploration, building and maintaining infrastructure, advancing future technological advancements, regulating monopolies, keeping a well trained and appropriately equipped military, running and building prisons (and actually working to reform inmates that can be rather then just throwing the book at the poorest among us), providing national security and foreign intelligence etc. So I voted for European socialism, partially to be contrarian to all the conservatives on here, but also because capitalism we have now isn't working for lots of people and it's not because the world changed and their manufacturing jobs got ripped out from under them, its because we've been in a class war for the last 30 years and it's taken away economic security and social mobility for lots of folks. Dismissing public policies out of hand without actually looking at each one and doing a cost benefit analysis is stupid and we need to be better and smarter than that. One blanket ideology or another isn't a solution to all this county's or the world's problems, but our political environment now allows for no nuance. I want to see policy positions backed up by studies on what would do the most good for the most people, we never get that, just idiotic talking points usually backed by fearmongering.
