  1. Alright after reading lots of posts and getting more and more mad I am going to vent a little bit. Yes yesterdays game was a bit of a embarrassment. But you just cant Judge a season off of the first game. Now I do agree our QB does suck. Our defensive line I thought showed some very good improvement IMO. But for ppl or article writers calling for frost to go that's just childish and all your doing is wanting attention. You cant fire a coach just after 3 seasons and for how much we are paying him that would be irresponsible. No-one said it was going to be a overnight fix like what some ppl where hoping for. There is only so much the coaches can do and what it it boils down to is the kids and how hard they want to work and how bad they want to win. I do think part of the problem is that its the B.S. transfer portal I say if your commit to a school you are to stay at least 2 seasons. If you cant stand a coach yelling at you, cursing at you, or pushing you harder and you quit because of that. How are you gonna make it through life? Also if your gonna transfer just because your not starting or seeing enough snaps and you think it will be better at another school. I would say to that player is to think again about it. Some people are thinking that we need a new coach every 5 years and hope that will fix it to them I say no. Your doing nothing but wasting money and your not going to change anything in that short amount of time. I will say it again the coaches can only do so much, it boils down to the kids. Now I do agree we need to make some staff changes, but I really dont think we need a new head coach. Its only been 3 years.

  2. I heard Damon make this point on the radio and it stuck with me. There is notable lack of trust between players and coaches. Especially on offense. Morrison is told he has an awesome camp and is in the mix for the top spot, he doesn't get a carry. Rahmir is not brought up at all, becomes the lead back in crunch time. Betts is told he has an awesome camp, doesn't play a snap outside special teams. Frost wants to be a physical downhill running team, passes on 3rd and short. Frost wants to cut down on the QB runs to keep AM healthy, AM runs 5+ more times than any of the RBs. Frost's words are empty and players know it. I'm not surprised most of our attrition comes from one side of the ball. There is no consistency on what they want the offense to be, he never puts in motion the words that come out of his mouth.

  3. I'm gonna be honest, I didn't read the OP, but being I'm season 4, we should of put the hammer down on Illinois w/ a back-up qb. All the talk and still nothing to show it actually improved

  4. Sorry, OP. I think we all know how this season is going to go.

  5. The sun came up this morning. Took a nice walk with the dog. Decided to look for bright spots from yesterday that can be nurtured into hope. That didn't go so well. I see people who want to give props to an improved defense. But I saw a team that came out of the locker room rested, recharged and just a touchdown behind immediately give up an 8 minute touchdown drive to the second-string quarterback of Illinois. Then give up another, so our already challenged offense had to play from 21 points behind. Those awesome QB sacks in the first quarter are way in the rearview mirror. That's because other teams adjust and do things better. The two big errors and 9 point giveaways from senior captains Adrian Martinez and Cam Taylor-Britt were bad at face value, but they also lose massively on style points: Martinez wasn't fighting for yards, he looked stumbling and helpless. It wasn't just Cam's blatant strategic error fielding the ball, it was that panicky attempt to throw the ball ahead -- something a 10 year old might do. This is a team that gets punched in the mouth and doesn't punch back. They wander around in a daze. Although there was plenty of time on the clock and an Illinois team perfectly capable of collapsing, I never for a moment expected Nebraska to win. And just to show me I wasn't being overly cynical, Connor Culp misses his second PAT of the game. The most fervent optimists on HuskerBoard are claiming that had 12 plays gone a little differently, Nebraska could have won. These televised games are absolute poison for recruiting. The only bright spot? Nobody in the rest of college football really cares about Nebraska vs. Illinois. Jesus.

  6. Unless we can land a Saban, Meyer, or Stoops (WE CAN'T) there is no reason to fire him now. Like, we have no leverage to make any offers. Frost WAS the top coach get and not even he could turn this s#!t around. We're screwed unless he pieces this together. There's just not a name out there that would legitimately be interested in any offer from this black hole job right now.

  7. We have to be honest and admit that the problems with Nebraska Football are deeper than just Frost and his ineptitude. Yes, he and his staff should be fired immediately. But the issues with Nebraska Football run deep into the Athletic Department. There are a lot of clowns in North stadium, and frankly some boosters too. Nebraska needs to hit a total reset button, not just with the staff on the field. Fire and replace every single person not named Trev Alberts. Excommunicate any and every booster who does anything other than write big checks. If they make so much as a suggestion about what Gatorade flavor we should use on the sideline, ban them for life. The rot here runs deep. And unless they find it and get rid of it, it'll come back and plague the next staff.

  8. If folks can't see how this is going to go, and that Frost is in so far over his head, then there isn't anything you can say to them really. Coaches make competitive teams in one or 2 years all the time, it's not about more time. Just look at Bielema who got a first year team to out perform a a guy in his 4th year with a 4th year QB. He did that with a backup from Rutgers who was beaten for his job by.....Noah Vedral. That name sound familiar? Just think about that for a bit. NUs 3rd string kid who transferred, won a job over the guy who then transferred to Illinois and just beat Frost in his first game with his brand new head coach. Circle of life, or circling the drain rather.

  10. He has had 4 years to coach up our OL. This is what he and his staff have put together in year 4. It is all on them. I am done with youth excuses etc at this point. You dont get those in year 4 in my opinion because at this point the roster is all on Frost and co.

  12. And although he was sacked 5 times I felt that more often than not Adrian had all day to throw.. Either our plays are incredibly slow to develop or Adrian just can’t make quick decisions.

  13. It took Mike Riley having the worst defensive coordinator in school history foisted upon him to have a single season as bad as the entire Scott Frost era. Let that sink in.

  15. It would be interesting to know how many teams, over the course of a 12 game season, will do the following: Field a punt for a safety Miss 2 PATs Have a fumble returned for a TD Have 30 yards in penalties on one play Have 2 punts travel less than 30 yards Mistake 1st and goal for 4th and 1 Nebraska did all of that in one game. One game.

  19. I read your list and I immediately think back to 2018 when we made lists for our next coach and how Frost was atop everyone's list and in large part it was because he was a homegrown guy who was having amazing success at UCF. If we learn anything from our coaching hires since 1997, it is it really doesn't matter what the coach did at their previous jobs before they come here, it is not an indicator at all of what they will do at Nebraska. -Solich was Osborne's protege and had been a part of the program for a long time. -Callahan was an NFL coach and took an NFL team to the Super Bowl. -Bo Pelini very successful defensive coordinator at Nebraska, Oklahoma and LSU prior to becoming Nebraska's head coach. -Mike Riley Long time head coach with a lifetime of experience and always was credited to doing more with less at Oregon State. Since his departure from Oregon State it has proven just how hard of a job that is and Riley consistently kept them competitive and on some seasons got them on the verge of winning the conference. -Scott Frost good assistant coach, inherited a winless UCF team and in year 2 went unbeaten and beat Auburn in a bowl game. Played under Tom Osborne and coached under Chip Kelly. Really looking at it, any of of those guys could have and looking at their strong points, should have been successful at Nebraska. Point being, we have no idea who that right coach is and who will be successful here.

  20. The defense only gave up 22 points with 167 yards of rushing (326 total). They forced 5 punts, 3 sacks, 1 deflection at the line, 1 missed FG, a Fumble, and should have had an INT. They had a decent game considering our offense sucked a$$.

  21. The fans are part of the problem, but i think in the opposite way. Sorry Nebraska, but the fans are what have kept this program relevant for two decades. It's the current sell out streak that is the only remaining current headlines this program has. Our trip as a fanbase to boulder in 2019 was the biggest highlight of the game for Nebraska, because guess what? Nebraska lost. Fans show up, Nebraska keeps losing. It is because of the fans and their reputation of being a well traveled fan base that has gotten this football program into bowl games or some better bowls then others because the bowl host knows Nebraska will travel and that means more money for them. Sorry, but to lump the fanbase into "part of the problem" is asinine in my opinion. If the fan base is part of the problem it is because we have entitled everyone within the football program. Our blind loyalty and dedication to the football program has bred a generation of entitled players and coaches who are kings of the state because they wear the "N" on Saturdays. They continue to get this treatment win or lose. No other fanbase in this country stays so loyal and behind their program like Nebraska fans are currently doing with this team and program. Not Michigan, not Ohio State, not Tennessee, not even Alabama. You put any of those programs into these dark times and there isnt any continued sell out streak, there isn't any Boulder, Colorado take overs. And I know anyone can easily reply with, "These are student athletes, they deserve our full support." Well, now with NIL in full effect, keep in mind a lot of these players and upcoming recruits are going to make extremely smart business decisions by choosing Nebraska because of our blind loyalty and unconditional support.

  22. Since preparation is the key to the game, that would mean Frost got out-coached. And since the game allows you to make in-game adjustments, Frost could have adapted his offense to what the Illinois defense was showing him. Remember when Illinois' offense wasn't prepared for Nebraska's defensive bullrush and gave up a bunch of sacks? Then Illinois made adjustments and didn't have the problem again....on the way to winning the game? That's called "coaching." For the last three seasons you've tried to convince me that Scott Frost was playing four-dimensional chess and we were too dim to see the progress. Now he's a still wet-behind-the-ears fifth year head coach and we need to be patient with "bumps in the road" that would have been intolerable for any other Nebraska coach? I think it would be decent of you to admit that at this point there is zero evidence that the Scott Frost experiment is working.

  23. I think you can still support the coaching staff because they are coaching your team. They don't have to be exclusive.

  24. Still think we should of stayed with McCaffrey. He didn't get the opportunity that Martinez has had, and you can learn to throw. I don't know of any player that has fixed being a headcase

  25. Our running game is what it is because defenses have no respect for the QB position. It’s been this way for years. This season has everything in place for another disaster. They simply will do nothing on offense but score for the other team. The defense will keep them in several games, but it won’t be enough.

  28. Lol to the posters wanting the backup qb 2AM is trash no doubt, but did we already forget the sorry excuse that the LMc experiment was last year? this teams issues are broader than 2AM he’s prolly 40% of it BUT… CTB also a captain played like a moron today with that safety we can’t even kick a god damn extra point WE DONT HAVE AN IDENTITY ON OFFENSE AND THAT STARTS AND ENDS WITH FROST Bielema came out today and first play was play action… never forgot the run game, and f’n embarrassed us with not only a backup but a transfer backup at that I really wanted this to work but it’s blatantly clear that Scott frost put too much stock and loyalty in a coaching staff that is in over its head offensively…. I was shocked to hear the claim by the announcer that last year was the worst offensive team in 45 years- mind you, in a day in age where spread concepts has made offense king HOW IS MARIO VERDUZCO STILL EMPLOYED HERE. For f#&%s sake- we can’t develop QBs, we can’t recruit QBs yet we keep this clown on this staff and also have a piss poor special teams unit, AGAIN, with no defined coach focusing on it THIS IS NOT ONE THING AILING THIS TEAM. ITS SYSTEMIC- IT STARTS AND ENDS WITH THE CEO I DONT EVEN REMEMBER WHAT THIS THREAD WAS ABOUT AND I DONT KNOW WHY IM WRITING THIS IN CAPS BUT I DO KNOW IM SICK AND f#&%ING TIRED OF TUNING INTO THE SAME GOD DAMN TRAIN WRECK EVERY F’N WEEK.

  29. For the record, I do wish Frost can get this thing going and not fire him because I think that would be best in the long term, but it’s hard to defend. I do think that if he can get things going then he’s going to friggin roll - so that’s my conundrum. My problem is not if, but “when” and it’s become really hard to be optimistic anymore when the same mistakes are occurring time and time again - they just find ways to lose

  32. Too MANY easy to fix problems that have NEVER been fixed. Im sick of it, same stuff. The coach JOB is to MAKE SURE the kids are lined up correctly- they didnt. Thats part of what they get PAID to do. Terrible coaching on both the punt return and kick return teams. You ALWAYS check the depth of your deep guy. AND YOU ADJUST HIM.

  33. Hey OP- A first year staff at a perennial B1G doormat, with a backup QB and no real home advantage just schooled our staff who have been together for several seasons now. We have regressed every year. You’d be lying if you said Adrian now is better than freshman Adrian,. Who are the go to skill players ?? What’s our identity ? What do we do well? Do we still beat ourselves ? In year 4 ?? Wake up OP , the panic is real and I see the strain.

  34. The bright spot? We didn’t get fooled in to a false sense of how good this team might be. Most of us expected to be 3-0 going into Norman. That would've surely led to some unrealistic hopes and expectations. Well, that bandaid got ripped off right out of the chute. Now only the hopeless romantics will entertain visions of this team being anything other than the doormat it is destined to be. Sorry, most positive spin I could come up with.

  37. If Frost can turn things around to limp into a bowl, it'll be huge. Maybe that is the problem, we all drank the kool-aid that was being poured starting in June, we all fell for it once again. We all fell for the local sports articles, the social media videos, and the podium talk, but in reality this team, which has been a 4 win program the last 4 years, is maybe, maybe at best a 7 win team, with 6 wins being almost a lofty goal, but one that gets us to a bowl game. So maybe this loss to Illinois was actually a more realistic outcome than many of us wanted to believe. Maybe Frost came into this job knowing the program must burn to the ground and hit rock bottom and he was the director of that ship. I mean we can't have a more better situation on paper for our coaching staff and athletic department. From the coaching staff, to the athletic program the place is filled with former players who were around in the 1990's. Maybe that is why they are here, to burn it down out of necessity, and UNL knew the fans would give them longer leashes because they are all former players, they knew we'd give them time and ride it out threw the rock bottom times, which is now. Maybe, just maybe they start to bring this thing back up together. Also, I could have just poured myself a new pitcher of kool-aid.

  38. I am calm, I am calm because there is exactly zero to get excited about. The sellout streak will be over, I am pretty calm about it. We may be the worst team in the West, still calm. I was not angry, mad, or disappointed, after yesterday's game; I was clam. I am waiting for the day that I am not calm, but excited again.

  42. It's year 4. Our 4 year starting QB? Outplayed by a back up who got beat out by Noah at Rutgers.....75 of our yards came on 1 scramble.....Our alleged vaunted run game, abandoned to the tune of less than 60 yards between 3 backs...TE? Non-existent....OL whipped at the point of attack (5 sacks)..... Frost is simply over his head. When the HC after a loss says "we guessed wrong" that's a problem. The inability to adjust is a problem. Keeping this stack intact for another year is a problem.
