  1. I learned that they apparently changed the targeting rule in the offseason because we had two times that a player got targeted by the definition of the rule we've known for the last 9 years and neither was determined to be targeting.

  2. I'm not convinced that the Sooners will beat us. No matter the outcomes of any other games. NU/OU is a different deal no matter where it's played or at what point in the season and no matter how the rest of the season went.

  3. Could you repeat that?

  4. That's reading a ton into it. There is literally no way to answer that question that people won't make too much of, as you illustrated. If he says he was still making suggestions - which is the case with most head coaches - people would rip him for not letting go. He was just trying to avoid the question. He doesn't want them to keep asking questions like that because all it is going to do is create more ways for people to try to spin it. If he tells them he's not going to talk about it, he can keep giving that answer until they quit asking.

  5. I wish I had a job that pays me a couple million a year and when I do s#!tty over the span of that I could just say, "ok, for real now." I have zero sympathy for ANY college coach that makes great coin...for coaching a f#&%ing game (you ain't curing cancer here or helping your fellow man) and then cries when they don't get the s#!t done. You know what you signed up for. Furthermore, you could stop coaching right now and provided your not a complete imbecile with your finances, likely to never have to "work" again. I put a majority of college coaches in the same bin I put actors. Entertain me...don't lecture me...cause you get wayyyyyyy to much $ for doing a job that, at the end of the day, has no value beyond 1-3 hours of me wanting to lay around and watch some s#!t.

  6. Eh, they got it on about the 30 yard line, which is five yards farther out than they would have gotten it had we kicked it through the end zone. If it hits that guy a little more square it could have easily bounced right back to us. But it was supposed to be a hard squib to the corner so they couldn't fair catch it. It just hit the guy in the leg instead of skidding past. I didn't like the one last week at all. This one was a pretty good strategical move.

  7. I don't know that he has it out for Whipple, however, I think he has a blind spot when it comes to Chinander. The offense had its warts last year, but did not need a complete overhaul. And while the D was pretty decent last season, its the only season I think we can state that. For the most part this has been an average-at-best D during Frost's tenure. While I like the Whipple and Joseph hires, in an alternate universe, I wonder what this team looks like with most of last year's offensive coordinators, a new QB, and a mostly different defensive staff.

  8. Of course they do. And I watch every minute of every game. It's what fans do. People also b!^@h and moan about their families and employers, and still show up at work and Thanksgiving.

  9. We've been saving stuff for the big games for 20+ years now. I really hope we finally bring it all out this year. We could be contenders!

  10. Frost keeps talking about getting Rahmir Johnson involved; PUT RAHMIR JOHNSON AT SLOT RECEIVER!!!!! So obvious!

  11. We played an FCS team. A not great one. And we struggled mightily. I saw a fresh Defense that gave up around 40 yards of offense on an FCS team's first drive. I saw a Defense get very little push on an FCS team's Offensive Line. I saw an FCS run ing back gash a B1G defense for 60+ yard run. I saw an FCS team get critical 3rd downs with a B1G defense, crowd behind them, looking lost and overpowered at times. I hate typing this, but we are a complete mess. Robinson, Reimer, Heinrich, Feist...it's really bad.

  12. Probably been said…. I feel bad for Johnson, but as a few radio guys said today…. Fact is, he just got BEAT OUT. New guys are BETTER and SF is playing best guys. Anyone who criticizes without seeing practice is just not very smart, yet trying to ACT like they know the game. LMAO

  13. I don't think Thompson is really that much better of a passer than Martinez. He does make quicker decisions in general though, so he gets the edge by a small margin. But he's either overthrown or underthrown some pretty key passes in two games and those are sometimes mistakes that end drives. Anthony Grant is the most complete back we've probably had since Ameer Abdullah. While Maurice Washington was an extremely talented athlete, Grant is too, and he can bounce off people and keep his balance to go upfield. I really liked that the offensive staff switched it up and just started feeding him the ball. We easily could have lost if they hadn't done that. More special teams f***-ups, as usual. It just never ends. We need Fidone and Vokolek out there. A third string TE commits holding while on his back on a guy who couldn't have even made a play on the ball.

  14. Well history says we probably won’t get beat down but rather another disappointing close loss
    3 points
  15. Nah. They'll throw it for 8 yards at a time for 6 minute drives and hit a couple 50 yarders. We will have to score 35+ to win next week.

  16. Chin is SO afraid of being beaten over the top, that he allows the dink game to not only flourish, but eat huge chunks of clock. It's seemingly true that our opponents best chances occur on 3rd and 8+ than they do at 3rd and 4-or less. And it's been that way since he arrived, so don't expect any miraculous change in philosophy.

  17. I learned that next Saturday is the last probable win on this season's schedule, and Frost will likely be fired on Oct. 2nd or 3rd.

  18. Wynn/Drew > Robinson/Feist. Nash has played alright and gets a few pushes forward. Feist aint it. T Rob average Grant is our best RB since Ameer Abdullah Chinander doesn't adjust and has our safeties 15-20 yards off the ball. Sanford needs to play more. Farmer/Buford look lost half the plays. Our tackling was still abysmal Chins also sits in base on obvious running plays. We only have 2 true DL and 2 ILBs. It's a hat on hat and makes it tougher than it needs to be.

  19. I'd don't know how to word this without sounding like I'm bagging on the guy, which isn't my intention, but I don't know what we've seen from the backs and receivers that makes people think, "you know what this team needs, Rahmir Johnson's meager production". Maybe if he could play tight end...

  21. I learned that this team isn’t fired up! I remember going to games and watching warm ups, we had kids bouncing around like crazy. We watched mosh pits in the end zone and kids jumping up and over teammates. The kids wanted to play they were fired up to play. satueday I watched them warm up…and just go through the motions. There wasn’t any jumping around. There wasn’t any excitement. The tunnel wall seemed like they were just there, the warm up they just were there. Half trike they were just there. Heads down… I did see Nelson walking around trying to pump people up but this team just doesn’t have that fire. That burn to win. They seem almost clinical

  23. Purdue is going to eat this team alive. We have no pass rush. AOC might throw for 400+. We need to enjoy next weekend because I’m not sure there’s another win out there.

  24. What? You pooch kick there everytime. You kick it through the end zone they take it on the 25. You let them fair catch it they get it on the 25. Pooch it and make them try to return it for minimal gain. They had a horrible formation setup with hardly anyone in the middle. We would have had them pinned deep if he would have kicked it past the frist defender.
    3 points
  25. The pooch was an automatic play call. Frost didn't make that call, it's part of the game plan and agreed upon by the staff. Regardless he's the CEO and these are the decisions he's supposed to make; like going for it on 4th down, kicking 55+ yard field goals, onsides kicks, etc.

  31. Maybe he called the drive that put Gabe in the game, and they went oooof !!! And maybe that's why he didn't want to talk about it HCSF needs to stay out of it, bottom line. He's had 4 years to call plays.

  32. One thing I recently learned is that Scott Frost took over the play calling duties in the second half. Gotta say, I commend him for that. We ran roughly 20% more and Casey Thomspon averaged about 3.5 more yards per completion and we scored 24 more points than with Whipple. Saved his job for another week.

  33. I won't knock him for moving on. I think he made the right choice for himself and Frost. Most pundants of the game say you make your most progress from game 1 to game 2. we will see if Amart gets better next week. Talent level is better at KSU, starting talent and they have more depth at all position. Are they OU or Bama, no. They are a solid squad. Biggest difference is in lines on both sides of the ball.

  34. I think maybe Casey can keep us in the game if turns into a shootout but we likely won’t stop them much on defense. We’re going to have to take some chances on defense to create some turnovers. Maybe we can get an early score or two and catch a couple lucky breaks and make a game of it. I expect some wrinkles like a good dose of Smothers on one drive. Probably a few designed QB runs than we’ve seen this far to make them defend that.

  35. Grant is good but let’s not dub him best back since the 90s when we had Roy Helu, Burkhead, & Abdullah back to back to back

  36. I might take OU to cover a 50 point spread based on what I saw yesterday. This team will fold when they get down 21+, mark my words. This isn't the 2021 super senior team with mental fortitude. The single digit loss streak ends here soon. Hopefully not with GA Southern but I wouldn’t be shocked.

  42. Too me it's just a silly question from the media to try to drum up controversy. I don't see Frost calling plays out of Whipple’s playbook, and it's not like he's installing his own offense during the halftime of a game. I'm sure there's a couple packages they've practiced from Frost's offense, but that's about it.
    2 points
  43. The weirdest thing was Frost saying at halftime he was disappointed with the offense. Look at the time of possession - the defense couldn’t get off of the field against this level of competition. He seems to have it out for Whipple. I think he sees Whipple as being his replacement and it’s driving him nuts to be so uninvolved in playcalling. (He tried to throw him under the bus last week also).

  47. North Dakota killed us with swing passes bc our guys don't play man coverage much. Falmer missed alot of tackles that were part of his job bc he was the backside containment.
