  1. I call BS on the low ball offers. No way Trev spends an extra $7.5M by firing 3 weeks early and then gets in a urination tussle over ~$200K for some assistants. This screams someone trying to explain why their 'prediction' of a hire didn't happen and it's just being spread around like wildfire.

  3. He also said that reporting was Mularky. But another report said its similar to Lincoln Riley last year refuting the LSU job, but going to USC. Kiffin to Nebraska confirmed.

  4. Fickell is a Home run hire, that’s why I’m convinced we aren’t getting him. With multiple reports of Trev trying to go cheap and now names like Doeren and Bronco being floated, both of who are awful options. Adding to the fact that Trev fired Frost before the buyout date with no plan on who his guy was means he has been a failure. I don’t buy there isn’t an interest in Nebraska, I buy that we hired an AD who is as incompetent as his predecessors and botched this search.

  5. Aranda has a 22 million buyout clause. Hes also recruited the best class the Bears have had in ages. Its not Aranda, guys.

  6. Can't disagree with you more. 1. To think the search is not fluid is foolish. "He knew this was likely coming" "He had from then until the start" ... Let's see, Kiffin wasn't available, Aranda was but also not a viable reality, Rhule was in the NFL, Prime Time was even a more unproven commodity at that time.. so, your comment here is a stretch at best. 2. "He fired Frost after 3 games", yes and again, many possible candidates were in the heart of the season and not wanting to create distractions therefore likely responding with we can speak closer to the end of the season privately. Again, your comment at best is a HUGE stretch. 3. "Penny smart, pound foolish" - You're making assumptions of which you have zero real insight into is the only foolish truth. Not trying to offend you as I've always respected your posts. So I was shocked when I read this post.

  11. Then Trev needs to be fired on the spot. You don’t fire Frost early and pay his buyout to hire an interim coach.

  12. He isn't placing the blame on the Babylon Bee. He is talking about how articles, posts, comments, etc. that dehumanize a subset of people can lead to whackos feeling their violence is validated. And maybe even worse, make people who would normally be sympathetic to the group turn and look the other way. We literally teach our teenagers about the propaganda push by the Nazis and how it made normal folks feel okay with the atrocities that were happening. It doesn't have to be government sponsored to be damaging.

  16. Orange Man Bad was banned from twitter for inciting a riot that resulted in dozens of criminal convictions and a few deaths. And James Woods is celebrating the return of that man as a free speech issue. That is totally on brand for today's MAGA conservatives. Just diseased in the brain.

  18. I think pressure played a part. He was talked into coming because I think deep down he was afraid of this outcome. He knew he wasn't ready or prepared for it, but the opportunity only comes once. Then, you tie that in with his personality type. The money, fame, and responsibility magnified the worst in him. And then you hear the stories right. He never had a solid plan for how Nebraska would improve. He had a horrible staff with him who were no good or could help. I will say something else and this is my hunch. When Trev got hired, he knew he was done, and if he didn't know right away, it became obvious to him before the season started. I think he sabotaged the program to get his large buyout. He forced Trev to do it before the clause. The onside was enough to fire him. Chinander was screwing up the defense to get fired and paid. I know that seems kind of nuts, but money speaks and I think they were done. Busch's quick turnaround told me it was an easier adjustment and Chinander knew it but why would he you know? Also, those two aren't cool anymore and thats crazy because Chinander was a groomsman in his wedding. Mickey and Trev know there were and still are toxic coaches on the staff. Chinander had a b!^@h fit over Ashley Williams committing because he wasn't recruiting him. He wanted Cameron Lendhardt, and Scott ended up pulling Ashley's offer and giving Cameron the green light. This caused a wedge.

  20. I just want to go on record, before it is announced, and say that it will be Rhule. Or Fickel….or Meyer. This program simply cannot let it slip to a tier B name after the last 20 years. They have the bucks and they will spend whatever it takes. Personally, I think the BS with the Panthers saying $10M or forget it was just some misinformation. Do you really think they wouldn’t love to unload $8M/year of that liability? This program has already lost a generation to bad football. It will cost them much more in the long run to bring in some lackluster dud than it will to get a very top candidate and the AD and major boosters have to understand this. I sure don’t think it’s any time to gamble with pissing off the fanbase. This will be a homerun hire. JMO

  22. For being so damn irrelevant, we got a ton of dudes paid. Nebraska controlled the coaching carousel this year, and for anyone wondering about the Wisconsin job or its position, you have your answer. It just doesn't command the same level of respect. I think tomorrow we hear the major leak that will be proven true.

  25. You only responded because you were called out. You were just going to breeze past this like you always do. But even these don't "both sides" the issue like you want. Schumer said "you will pay the price" for the Supreme Court members lying about the sanctity of Roe. That was very clearly a political warning. Waters I won't defend. She's a nutter. I also wouldn't complain if she were banned from twitter for that. Bernie & Omar have both been denounced right here by the non-MAGA of HuskerBoard. But here's your problem - none of these were twitter posts. You're complaining that twitter didn't treat these people the same as people who broke twitter's rules. Really lame attempt there. But that's what "both sides" has always been.

  29. It's a compensating complex disorder. Which doesn't mean people who have guns, even these same guns, fall in the category. Rather those who need to constantly show off their guns, talk about their guns, use their guns for intimidation, are individuals who struggle psychologically with something they are ashamed of and think they need to compensate for it. Many of these individuals might have small peckers, can't do basic math, you name it, so they use guns hoping it will build them up somehow. And it doesn't.

  33. Oh, is that what you guess? Because he said: "So liberals applauded the suppression of millions of conservatives, including a POTUS." He is clearly talking about Trump and his followers, who do actively spread lies and hate, which certainly does hurt people. So going back to funhusker's question: why do you want people like that to have a larger audience?

  40. and what are those standards? Please elaborate. I might also argue that there is no "similar account" to Donald Trump based on the position he holds and his influence over his followers and over the media. I honestly don't remember why the Babylon Bee got suspended from Twitter. I thought it was pretty well understood that they are a comedy/satire account. Stemming from knapplc's post above (edit: and Lorewarn's post): did they play around with hate speech? Did they take it too far? I really don't know and don't care enough about the BB to look it up. Wait, what are you actually advocating for? If you think Trump and his ilk should be given a platform for their BS, then why do you care about other lies? If you think government and journalism should be held accountable, then why are you re-posting James Woods crying over Trump being oppressed? I happen to think that accuracy and truth from our government and from the press is pretty damn important, and is fading away. Lies, bias, and inaccuracies should be called out. At the same time we should try to discern between intentional lies and mistakes, and implicit bias vs blatant divisiveness. It can all be harmful it a number of ways, and we should be wary of all of it. But I think we can afford to be a little more wary of the lies and hate that have a tendency to lead to violence and oppression. Not all lies are equivalent.

  43. This isn't directed at you Red, but that Twitter thread reads like a whole lot of nonsense. Not only is it written in an incoherently rambling format that makes some of our posters look like Edgar Allen Poe, but he later admits that his information is coming from a "paid" message board of people with vague connections. I'm not saying he's lying, but reading that thread makes me want to buy Lars Anderson stock... and THAT'S saying something.

  44. If you are coming to Iowa City for the game - a few things to note: The westbound I-80 ramp from 218/380 North is closed so you will have to take a detour a few miles out of the way if you are parked west of the stadium and heading down Melrose to 218/380. The walk from downtown isn't too bad other than the cold wind down the river so parking in one of the lots on the East Side so that you can get out of town via Dubuque Street might be recommended. The teams enter the stadium on the south end. The Iowa team will get there for the Hawk Walk past the Kinnick statue right around 1:00. The visiting team usually gets there a little before us and get dropped off on the SE corner of the stadium in case you want to be there to cheer on the Huskers as they get off the bus. If you like to see the band show before they head to the stadium (similar to what the CMB does outside Westbrook) - the drumline performs about 2 hours before kickoff outside the north end of the stadium and the full band with the cheerleaders and dance team does a show about 90 minutes before kickoff in the Rec building which is just NW of the stadium.
