  3. How many people have to ask this before folks get the picture. No one is getting fired after this season no matter what happens on the field.

  4. How about we sit back and enjoy the ride. Let the coaches coach and stop with the constant fire this blah blah blah. CONTINUOUS FIRING GOT US HERE, LET'S HAVE SOME DAMN CONSISTENCY WITH OUR COACHES!

  5. Sometimes something so unique and pure pops up on Twitter. It makes following other Husker Fans so much fun. This guy started building Memorial Stadium out of paper. He chose the size by what would fit in his file cabinet drawer. That's basically it. But along the way, as he posted his progress, he included tons of great historic tidbits about the team and the stadium. Just a fun little journey through Husker history. This Husker fan spent 12 weeks building a Memorial Stadium replica out of paper You'd be hard-pressed to squeeze 90,000 Husker fans into this Memorial Stadium. But you'll still spot concession stands, restrooms, a scoreboard and statues of former Husker greats. It's just scaled down. And made entirely of paper products. David Ashby, who goes by Trey to family and friends, spent nearly three months reproducing the tiniest details of Memorial Stadium into a paper replica. The Papillion man wrapped up the project this week. Ashby, 30, said he's always been interested in stadiums. He held onto a binder full of his junior high drawings of different stadiums. In recent years, he's toyed around with building stadiums he designed out of paper.

  6. I am encouraged too by everything in Frost's past as a player and coach. He's been around winning programs, hall of fame coaches and know how they should be ran and the culture within them. Here's a big thing though that some Husker fans either don't realize or choose to forget. Yes, Frost took over a team that went 0-12 the year before and then improved to 6-7 and then ultimately the undefeated season in 2017. But, let's look at the year's prior to the 0-12 year. 2012 10-4 2013 12-1 2014 9-4 So, yes, he took over a team that went 0-12 the prior year. But, he still had upper classmen on those first two teams at UCF that understood how to win and what winning felt like. This team has none of that. We have Freshmen and Sophomores needing to step up and be the leaders on the team because the Juniors and Seniors don't know how to win and the effort that that takes. I know fans are sick and tired of hearing, "it's going to take time". But, reality sucks sometimes.

  7. Coaches dont miss tackles, stand around and watch others try to tackle then try to assist after opposing players break away for long runs or tds. Coaches dont drop passes or over/under throw wide open recievers. Like Adam Carricker said today in his show, you cant coach effort. We have a lack of effort by a lot of players. Do the coaches pull players at this point and burn redshirts? Only a coach who is trying to save his job would do that in my opinion. Yes this season hurts to watch but i have faith that SF will turn it around. We cannont continue the 2-3 year and change coaches, thats why we are here now.

  8. I've never liked this philosophy. No coaches aren't the ones out there missing tackles and dropping passes, but it's the job of the coaches to teach those players. Poor fundamentals and poor execution absolutely belongs to the coaches. You can't coach effort? Well, you can reward good effort. You can motivate. You can disincentivize poor effort. I don't know the answers, and I still pretty much believe that it is Frost or bust. But I think everything falls on the coaches.

  9. I'd encourage the people claiming our dline is fat and out of shape to rewatch the games and find me plays where they are the problem. There aren't very many.

  10. Enjoy the ride? I mean, I can sit back and be patient, because there really is no other choice but to wait and see if we can actually improve. And I will always be a fan. But this ride is not enjoyable.

  11. Ive never liked the 3-4, but i grew up watching the huskers dominate with the 4-3. It didnt take a coachung change to switch from the 5-2 that Nebraska ran to the 43, it did however take a change in philosophy. McBride did it who says Chins cant. This team needs continuity not constant turn over. Look at NU DL in the 90s and compare them to now. The davis twins and Daniels look fat and out of shape in comparison. Either one of the Peter brothers whould have scored a td on that int.

  12. I'm so tired of people saying this team needs to get more talent. Yes, every team needs more talent, but not to beat Indiana and Purdue. Nebraska has more talent at the starting positions than either of these teams. Scheme and coaching matter

  17. 247 mod said walk-on as well. It's a solid addition. We'll have a super star wide receiver room with Kade and this kid out there running the walk-on show.. In all honesty though, walk-ons seem like they are getting a mixed reaction from fans at this point. There's the crowd that thinks you can't build a contender if walk-ons are getting in the mix and the crowd that thinks you can find 1-2 diamonds in the rough and fill them into your depth chart when misses happen with scholarship players and contend. I'm in the 2nd group. There are a lot of teams I think that would love to have a guy like Kade Warner in the rotation for receiver. If nothing else, this kid helps because he can give a look in practice and give a good representation of speed we'll see in games. Welcome aboard kid!

  18. The problem is Final Drive Chinander and his soft zone defense has cost us 7 games, to opponents on their last offensive positions. We by comparison would feel totally different about the state of the program if we cold stop someone at the end of a game.

  19. Not really, but, who panicked, who celebrated when reading the title though? Thought this might put things into perspective and be a bit of a reality check to those calling for heads. The year might not have gone how we wanted/ expected, but Frost is our guy and we are lucky to have him. He'll have opportunities this year and every year. We need him to stick around and build continuity on the coaching staff. Him leaving would set us back another decade or more. So let's all take a chill and let him get the straightened out. There is no guarantee he stays, then where would we be? Ps. Apologies for any blood pressure spikes.

  20. You're not supposed to be hearing the DL's names being called much! That's not how it works in most 3-4 schemes! Posts like this are driving me batty, because there's a whole lot of misplaced blame here. I mean hell, simple counting should tell you that you're not going to hear the DL's names called as much, since there's only three of them on the field. But you also need to realize that they have very different responsibilities in a 3-4 than in a 4-3. Mostly, they're there to chew up OL blocks and take up space, while the linebackers are the guys responsible for pass rush and making plays. And it's our linebackers that are letting us down, there. ^ More teams turning to 3-4 defense - ESPN Here's what Purdue's coach had to say about our D after the game: TL;DR: Our linebackers are the problem, and it's not even close. And it's even scarier when you look at how our LB recruiting has went lately...

  22. I knew it was another garbage "look everyone, how funny I think I am" posts. If it was real I would be pretty concerned at the future state of the program that a guy with major connections was giving up this fast. I dont want Frost to leave. Has he been underwhelming as a coach, yes... I also think it is super stupid to place bets on less than two years. The writing was on the walls with Mike Riley.. He had very little success across the board. Frost has some proven success. I am 100% frustrated with where things are at, but I also know that firing frost or hoping he would move on sets us WAY further back.

  25. You should go watch that play again. If our tackle doesn't have one of the most pathetic blocking attempts I've ever seen that's an easy TD. The play call was not bad, the execution was.

  26. It isn’t relevant whether the whistleblower is anti-Trump or not. Being against someone while witnessing them doing something wrong does not require bias. Seeing someone doing something wrong should cause people to be against them. It’s a f#&%ing ridiculous argument to use to discredit someone.

  27. frost calling a shovel pass on the goal line immediately after we intercepted a shovel pass that got us the ball on the goal line told me me all I needed to know: he still hasn’t humbled himself enough to do what is needed to be successful here at Nebraska. He’s still just all talk with a mountain sized ego. With that being said, I still think he will make some internal and external changes these next few games and in the offseason that will bring success next year.

  29. It’s not buy-in or players not executing. We are simply getting out coached on every level each game. Not what I’d hoped for. Frost is going to have to grow quickly because next years schedule looks like 2 or 3 wins.

  30. It would be a signature win and would greatly increase the likelihood of making a bowl game. As it stands Frost's signature win is a 5-point loss to Ohio State.

  34. We don’t have any depth which is why things implode in the 4th quarter. As far as recruiting, I would go with 2 and 3 star players that have heart. The 4 and 5 star players we have are the ones that Alabama, OSU and other elites didn’t want. Last year’s Super Bowl consisted of predominantly all 2 and 3 star college players, meaning coachable (this is why Belichek has so much success). The coaching carousel has to stop. Kids don’t know who they’ll be playing for year to year if we continue down this road. Nebraska used to always win 9 games a year because of a weak conference under TO but would usually lose a bowl game. The BIG10 is so physical and currently our team gets worn down by the end of the game.

  35. The problem is, chins Defense WONT get any better.. He took over 2 teams (UCF and Nebraska) with bottom of the barrel defenses and improved them.. UCF was 37.7 ppg the previous year he took over Nebraska 36.4... YES, he brought both teams off the bottom but his second year ended worse then his first at UFC and after wisconsin and Iowa run it up on us we will probably end Chins year two worst then his first here as well. Chins bend but dont break, (well we might break, yep we broke) defense will NEVER be a top 25 defense.. period..

  39. Preemptive apologies for starting a new thread about a well worn topic, but I wanted to share my thoughts without feeling like I have to choose a side. I find it interesting that people claim that if Frost can’t fix it...then no one can and the program is dead. Nebraska will always thirst for a football team to root for, and if/when a team shows any amount of promise...the entire fan base will be galvanized and line up to support them. Frost’s first two seasons are disappointing. There really is nothing more than conjecture and unfounded optimism that suggests this is all part of a larger rebuilding plan. Things have gone poorly. This team has played poorly. And yes this coach is responsible for all of it. That being said, in this world of meaningless contracts and instant gratification...I believe we roll with Frost through his contract. Perhaps he is not a miracle worker, and maybe his early success had less to do with how perfect the coaching staff was than everyone thought. If you believe that Frost is a smart, passionate coach who can inspire young athletes...then maybe what we have is merely a guy who can become a great head coach one day. He loves this program/state/university, and I believe him when he staunchly states that he will not rest until he gets it right. Maybe he needs to recruit different athletes, or overhaul his scheme, or replace some of his staff. Whatever he has to do, I believe his passion for the program will always win out. He doesn’t appear to be waiting for another opportunity....this is it. In my opinion, he won’t forsake the team in favor of professional loyalty, intellectual stubbornness, etc. i wont say that I promise he’ll get it right in 7 years, but maybe it would be all that more rewarding to watch Frost develop into a better head coach wearing a red hoodie. I’m willing to take the ride, support the program...bitch and moan with every loss, knowing that the guy in charge lives and dies more than I do with every game. Maybe he’s not the right guy, but I’m willing to wait a few more years to find out.
