Tom Osborne and Charlie McBride.8 points

If you could get in the hot tub time machine and bring back one former Husker on defense and another on offense to play in 2020 … 1) What two Huskers would you bring back? 2) What two Huskers not named yet in this thread would you bring back? ============================================================= I’d bring back DT Rich Glover (1971-72) and OG Will Shields (1991-92) (I picked Glover because I figured most others would want Suh)4 points

....Tom Osborne needs to stay home when it comes to legislation: https://www.omaha.com/news/state_and_regional/tom-osborne-testifies-against-gambling-bills-senator-says-nebraska-losing/article_7de6b464-2a16-5716-835d-541fa3227482.html4 points

I guess what I don't understand is why you think that roughly 30 minute drive for most people really makes a difference? To me, we're already suffering the costs of it; might as well reap the benefits.3 points

I wish I was a) technically inclined to be able to figure out how to start/run a board and 2) had the free time needed to run/maintain a new board. I feel like there is an opportunity for a HuskerBoard 2.0 that needs to be taken advantage of.3 points

I'd bring back Ndamukong Suh and Zach Weigert. Yep. That's who I'd bring back.3 points

The real losses for Nebraska are going to be the Davis twins & Darrion Daniels - basically the entire D Line. Into those shoes you're going to have Ben Stille, Damien Daniels and Deontre Thomas, right? We'll see how it goes with another year in S&C.3 points

I guess one post qualifies as "whole threads dedicated to making excuses for Bo"3 points

I think"long time worst official in the big ten names coach who road his butt hardest" is a more fitting title here.3 points

Vindman was supposed to report his concerns up the chain of command. Instead he ran to a politically sympathetic CIA person and tried to create trouble. He's lucky he's not undergoing administrative review.3 points

Buddy, if I don’t make my number, we don’t get to go to the conference in Maui. And my wife said she’d leave if that happened. So please click on the ad.3 points

I visited the Huskermax site this afternoon and if you think ads are bad here try that one. I counted 11 ads on one page and when I refreshed it became 12.3 points

I think it’s only fair they take some punishment. I mean my eyes have been assaulted for eight straight games2 points

I love Coach and respect his point of view on this topic. I just fundamentally disagree with it. Just because I disagree with it doesn't mean he needs to stay home. He should stand up for what he believes in. This attitude that people who disagree with you need to be silent is rotten to its core, and has given American politics a$$ cancer.2 points

Yeah. Speaking for myself personally, if I'm honest I've really watered down my expectations. Which I think makes watching these seasons more bearable, so in that sense it's just good preservation of my sanity. But when Frost was hired there was zero beating around the bush about how championship expectations were fully on the table by Frost and all involved. If we want a dominant run game again, we have to have an incredible offensive line. There just isn't any other way to state it. And getting there will involve the absolute best that Austin and also Duvall can give.2 points

^^^^Lavonte David and Trev Alberts. Need linebackers in this defense.2 points

Ahman Green and Terrell Farley. I don't know if Farley could hold up in the Big Ten but I damn sure wanna see him try. Almost went Lavonte David.2 points

Just to be completely random instead of thinking about the absolute two best guys, I'll go with Joe Ganz & Grant Wistrom. I'd play Wistrom in the Standup Outside Linebacker role and he'd be a sack machine. Ganz would probably run this offense just fine.2 points
-
Grant WIstrom and Irving Fryar. I would have picked Joel Mackovicka but no fullbacks now.2 points

Just got 2 consecutive ads for Cuup (aka the "boobs deserve better" ad) as well as Spicy Lingerie. Hoping that Mrs Red Five has a nice Valentine's Day planned for me.2 points

Suh is the easy pick on defense given we don't know how the line is gonna look this year, but Broderick Thomas would be fun. Basically played in a 3-4 anyway and would immediately make me feel great about OLB. Offensively, Johnny Rodgers would be an incredible fit in this offense even if Duck-R isn't a position of need. Any great lineman would help too, or somebody like Johnny Mitchell.2 points

Relative to the many other problems this team had as it finished the 2019 season, the defensive line is almost last on the list for me. I'm not worried about it at all, really. The narrative is that we had no pass rushing linebackers last year. So as far as returning production in that department goes, Alex Davis didn't really do anything at all the entire season and then he graduated. Somebody has to step up there or we'll have more situations where mediocre quarterbacks stand in the pocket all game and drive down the field on us (with the Purdue game as a great example).2 points

Yesterday Middle of the night: Today: What would you call intervening into the sentencing of your co-conspirator who was found unanimously guilty on five felony counts of lying to investigators, one count of obstructing a congressional probe and one count of witness tampering? Abuse of Power!?! Trump is turning the nation’s most powerful law enforcement apparatus into his purely political tool.2 points

Zip code matters but it is not insurmountable. If Nebraska did not have the historical / brand stature and lacked the national fan base and facilities etc then the recruiting disadvantages would be much harder to overcome. But Nebraska football still has enough substance and repute with coaches and parents to find another couple bstches of good players from near and far to recover. I believe that once Frost gets that first 9 win season the tide will come back in and we’ll be back. Assuming the program stsys the course and resists the temptation - knee jerk panic - to once again try to reboot or restart. We need to stand pat and remain fully supportive and let the rebuilding proceed with all deliberate speed. Dont blink - just drive forward pedal to the metal! These coaches have the hunger and drive and stamina and the confident support of the admin to succeed. Patience !!!2 points

Frost really seems high on this guy. He said Gunnerson "intimidates" him when he walks past. Good leader in the weight room, too.2 points

This is exactly where I’m at, and really, as long as I can watch the games on TV, that’s all I need. The message board thing was fun and provided a sense of community (yes, past tense) but it is far from a necessity. If the thought is to make it as unpleasant as possible so people will gravitate to Huskermax, I hate to disappoint but I’ll never do it. That place also looks like a cheap Vegas neon advertisement.2 points

Dave Rimington and, because Suh and Wistrom have been mentioned, Chris Peter (without the off the field problems)1 point

oh. there are dozens of RBs LBs DLOL that would have similar effets. Recruit a dozen and watch it be magical. i really expect we have several on the team now that will be big jumps. we just need 8 more sprinkled around the roster. theyll be here soon if we keep the forward momentum.1 point
-
Id say Suh and Wistrom both on defense. But if give me Shields and Lawrence Phillips on offense I think 10 wins is very reasonable. This is why can remain hopeful for the program to get better fairly soon. We are half a dozen difference makers away from competing for Big ten west. And there are many other past Husker starters at several spots that would make a huge difference.1 point

I may be the biggest Yang fan on the board. He's just not getting enough traction. It's time for him to come to grips with it and end his campaign.1 point
-
If he's legitimately 6'6 250 right, I'm excited to see what Duval can do with him. I know some people are saying he'll grow into a DE, but it would be fun to see an NFL sized pass rushing OLB if he can keep his athleticism.1 point

Frost said he's already added 15 pounds since he got here. Coaches like how he moves smoothly and being a big-bodied DB.1 point

Noa, Williams, and Woodward. They too they had little production.1 point

How do you get this about Luke when he only threw 12 passes?1 point
-
After watching it just one time the paragraph I bolded is my conclusion also. Perimeter blocking was terrible on most of the negative or short yardage plays or the pass was behind the receiver or off target or both. I will add one more thing. When the RB goes in motion right before the snap and leaves an empty backfield it is really telegraphing what they are doing. I mean they know where the ball is going in that situation. When you combine that with poor blocking and a poor pass it can lead to disaster. I will also add that the flat pass/screen/swing pass is one of the hardest things to throw accurately with a lot of consistency. To hit someone in stride when they are running down hill is tough.1 point
