  1. Please chime in on this............do you follow your heart or your mind on something when you need to make a decision on something pretty important.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm a pretty logical person, I usually err on the safe side of things and to caution. I think that's why I'm having a real tough time with this decision. I'm still weighing things so we'll see where it goes. :)

  2. May be looking at a move out of the State of Iowa in the near future if the legislature makes the changes they have proposed for public workers. It's a shame, Iowa was and always will be home, but I'll move on if need be.

We'll she gets a raise on her date of hire every year, cost of living raise and I can't remember what the 3rd raise was. I get two raises a year (cost of living and my date of hire anniversary raise). No sure why you're getting so bent out of shape over this?

    3. Apathy

      Apathy

Not to mention she only makes $19 an hour to deal with incompetent parents who abuse their kids or foster parents who don't know how to take care of kids. Her medical is going up dramatically and then to potentially lose her retirement is messed up. So before it was an ok paying job with great benefits to go to ok job with sh#tty benefits. And people want minimum wage to go up to $15...ridiculous

I'm not bent out of shape at all. Like I said, I'm sorry the sweet deal of 3 raises may be going away for you. But here in the private sector, owning a business, we're lucky if we can give out a raise every year or two and I've gone 2 or 3 years before without increasing my pay. Just trying to interject another POV.

Castle Rock is a decently long drive to Aurora. I'd take a look at all the different places from Castle Rock north to the Tech Center and along the southeast to Parker and east side of Aurora. Prices drop as you move farther east onto the plains.

@teachercd hard to tell, this is my wife's idea more than mine, but as I go through the application process we'll go out there and see what we think about things and decide from there. I don't have to take the job obviously if we don't dig it. I like where we live now, but we've always talked about heading towards Colorado.

  5. Going on another cruise, taking the kids this time and we're going to drive. The questions is......do I avoid Atlanta all together and go through Nashville and Birmingham to get to Miami or drive right through Atlanta and say, "Hold my beer and watch this!?"

I found this website called roadtrippers.com and they have an app as well to set my road trip up. It's actually pretty cool because you can filter out what things you want to see along the way, if you want to make a special stop you can add it to your trip, etc. Pretty easy to change the route too, just click on the route and drag it to another highway/interstate if you want to avoid something.

    4. Pedro Guerrero

      Pedro Guerrero

We used roadtrippers when we drove to St Pete's beach from Omaha 2 years ago. We also drove through Atlanta and my only suggestion is if you do it find the lane you need/want and stay in it. Of course we drove through on a Monday evening so it wasn't that bad.

  6. Just set up the Amazon Echo I bought on prime days. Now the government can just listen to what goes on inside my household. It's cool I for one am going to embrace our new computer overlords! lol

I have my TV on when I'm cooking, but it would be nice to control lights and do searches by voice.

Let's say I want to look up a recipe or technique. Can I connect Alexa to my TV and have the recipe show, or have it go to YouTube & play a video?

    3. BIGREDIOWAN

Got several lights hooked up, some color some regular. Have alexa make them brighter as I wake up and turn them on and off with my schedule. the color ones are pretty stunning, use them behind the tv and to accent parts of the house. Makes the home look like a magazine shoot.

  8. Good god, Bo making it to the FBS final game isn't as bad as some of you are making it seem. You are making it sound like we'd be competing for a N.C. this year if he was still here. I seriously doubt we would've been any closer with him here. The guy was/is a nutcase.

So the MVC would go toe to toe with the B1G West, week in and week out? Mmmkay, good to know.

    3. mrandyk

      mrandyk

Top MVC teams would not go toe to toe with any division of any power 5 conference week in and week out. Injuries would set in and the 22 scholarship gap would become apparent.

    4. BIGREDIOWAN

      BIGREDIOWAN

There is no way I realistically believe that those teams would compete with the B1G West when NU can't even compete with the B1G West at times. We're wore down by the time November rolls around every year.

  9. If you could pick anywhere to live in the U.S. where would that be and why? Wife and I are kinda thinking of moving, right now we're looking at Colorado, but aren't really set on anything.

My wife can move her job anywhere in the country, so that's nice to have, I'm not so lucky so I'd either have to get another law enforcement job or get out of it all together and do something new.

I moved from LA to DC when my wife and I both decided we wanted to live there.  We committed between ourselves to move on a certain date about two months out.  We began looking for jobs, and she found one fairly quickly.  As the date grew near we put money down on an apartment, hired some movers and gave notice to our employers.  It took longer for me to find a job.  But I ended up landing a job with just a few days to spare before we moved.  (Phew!!)  Instead of shipping our VW Jetta we drove across America to see the sights.  That was a good time.

So I'm still getting some caffeine so that's helpful with the process.

@ZRod I was doing lunges towards the end of my leg day. It was a light leg day, but high reps, 16-20, and it was only body weight lunges. So I'm guessing I taxed my legs pretty good throughout the workout and the stretch of the lunge pushed it over the edge.
