  1. In every interview since Keagan made the announcement, Clester has been nothing but complimentary of the NU staff and what they are doing in Lincoln. Keagan wanted to go to a more established team, which if looking at the last 5 years, that would be Iowa by a landslide. People just want to make things up when something doesn't go their way.

  2. Obana-Biden felt safe to attack Trump because they knew he didn't have a prayer to beat Hilary. There would be no consequences under President HRC but for a few brave voters in the Midwest.

  4. Why would Clester get roasted if NU beats Iowa this year? Clester didn't make the decision to go to Iowa, his son did. I fail to see what Clester did wrong here?

  5. @NUance It's also important to remember that dr's falsifying records to "defraud" Medicare is illegal. Not only would lose their license, they'd also most likely be arrested. Not a risk many physicians are going to take to make a few extra bucks for a hospital.

  6. Clester put to bed on an interview with DB on what I posted earlier that losing Walters was one of the reasons why we lost Keegan. If anything, he said Lubick increased our chances of getting him. Came down to which program was going to win more. Clester is actually very excited about Lubick’s ability as both a recruiter & OC. Another nugget: didn’t shade out Nebraska like some seemed to think. This was a logical choice.

  8. For comparison. ON Worldometer, our deaths per million is 244. Sweden's deaths per million is 322. So, if you extrapolate their death rate to our population, we would have 106,582 deaths compared to 80,800.

  9. If we want recruiting boosts then we better start winning. That is all there is to it. All of Fishers recruits have come from Georgia and Florida. That is his main area of focus. Held is a different story as he recruits nationally for us, same as Coach T. I will admit that his recruiting hasnt panned out like some of the others but the guy works harder then anyone on staff, other then Held.

  14. I can agree with that. I said i'll, semi-reluctantly, give him a pass in the 2020 class. I'm just not willing to give him a pass for the 2021 class and wait till 2022 class to see results. Just my personal opinion. Which, quite frankly, means absolutely nothing.

  15. The bold is a great question. I think the simple answer is: dictators (and other control freaks, narcissistic personalities) won't allow it. Dictators live in the world of mis-information, of control of knowledge. Tribalism also fosters the movement as well.

  16. Imo that is way too long. Three recruiting classes to get where he needs to be, then two years for the kids to develop/S&C? That's saying you are ok waiting 5-years to see the guys he brings into the fold. You don't wait for the well to be empty before you refill it.... Held, Fisher, Mario, even Rudd to a point hit the ground flying on the recruiting trail. Think all those Florida kids were knocking down the doors to come to Neb? Hell no, Fisher went, busted a$$ and CLOSED to get them here. I am willing to give TT a pass, kind of, for last year.... but it's go time now. However, you are entitled to your opinion and explained it well...we both want the same thing in the long run. Edit: Forgot Austin on list of coaches getting it done. He's landing a nice mixture of studs and developmental guys. Have been really impressed.

  18. GOP Jared or Ivanka Actually, since we've been in old man politics for some time - Although I don't think it is likely, don't discount Mitt trying. Paul Ryan, if he is enjoying whatever he is doing now, why would he get back into the fire? Maybe he will as his kids will be older and I think that was one of the considerations he didn't run and the fact he had a potentially tough reelection ahead. I don't believe he has been soiled by Trump - which is a good thing. Maybe he comes back wt a fresh vision of what the GOP could be without the cult of trump baggage. He was always kind of a big picture vision guy - I'd be interested in what he'd have to say if he decided to get back into the public arena. The 3 Amigos from the Senate who ran in 2016 - Rubio, Cruz, and Paul - have all fizzled and proved to be light weight. I think the GOP needs to put forward a Governor who hasn't been stained by tRump. Dem: I think Harris has the inside track for VP which will set her up for 2024 nicely if she isn't president already.

  19. It takes time to build connections. Right now, his recruits don't want to travel to a Midwest sub .500 team from the west coast. Another factor is this cycle we won't take many D-lineman besides a nose and two ends. We only have one senior so he can focus on his bigger targets. Saying it is 'wasting time' is completely false. In a few years these relationships will pay off and they will come when we get the train rolling. He will get us some great players here in due time. As I said before, this cycle he can't strike out, but I will hold judgement until his 2022 class. If we are reaching to get JuCo's there I will start to be concerned. For 2021, we only lose Ben Stille on the line and one might transfer or leave the team. The numbers are sitting well. Dawson is also on staff and I trust he can pull in one lineman if need be to help us out. Not trying to make excuses for Coach T, but Dawson has those Northeast connections and can help in that regard. We are 7 months out from signing day so he has time to get his puppies in order so to speak. He is no Hank Hughes. His development of lineman are his strength and once we get going with football we will see that. I am simply holding judgement on Coach T until the 2022 cycle for recruiting and if that is too long than so be it.

  23. Just did a really quick look at the 2020 class and it seems they don't leave the coast very often. Of the top DL from AZ, NV, CA, OR, WA there was a guy that went to CO, one to LSU and one to Northwestern. As you get into the mid 3* and lower players they spread out a bit more but the west coast largely dominates. A quick look at 2019 look similar so maybe it is just a really tough pull.

  24. Maybe the problem was hiring TT with the expectation of getting west coast DL to come? TT or no, we just can't pull west coast linemen on either side of the ball. It seems to be more of a institutional problem than a TT problem. Do west coast linemen leave to go to other Midwest schools? Because they sure as hell don't come to Nebraska very often. You would have thought with Riley's staff (and their west coast connections) they could have pulled some lineman from the west coast, but no. We got Robinson last year, but he had a Husker connection. So lets see if he is the start of a trend or an outlier. Since 2000 high school recruits: West Coast DL - Robinson (AZ 2019), Moss (AZ 2012), Peat (AZ 2011), Meredith (CA 2008), Toailoa (CA 2008), Yancy (AZ 2007), Smith (NV 2006), Suh (OR 2005), Carriker (WA 2002), Thomas (CA 2000) West Coast OL - Gates (NV 2014), Lewis (AZ 2013), Whitaker (CA 2012), Jones (AZ 2007), Hickman (CA 2006), Picou (CA 2005)

  25. Musk reminds me of Edison. A very good businessman with scientific knowledge, but is willing to sacrifice people to get what he wants. He's smart like any engineer should be, but he still thinks with an engineering brain when it comes to social issues, which is problematic. Like when I told my fiancée the GM ignition issue wasn't that big of a deal, because numbers wise it wasn't a lot of deaths. Which is true, but people's lives are more than just numbers. Elon is looking at his bottom line and own ambitions rather than what's good for society. He's always been like this.

  26. This isn't basketball. You don't realize the potential of your incoming talent in football for at least 2 years and in most cases it takes 3-4 years. This season we should start to see some of the new regimes talents as upper class men but it will really be in 2021 and 2022 before we get to see what the Frost kids can really do.

  29. In regard to Iowa, I'm not sure I'll soon forget the 56-14 beating they put on Mike Riley. Riley was blown out his last two games against Iowa. Frost has made them competitive....two straight three point losses. Iowa has won the last 5 against us. That is very very close to changing.

  35. The only thing I would mention to my kid, about NU, is if you are planning on staying in the state afterwards...you are set. Even Harrison Phillips mentioned that the other day, how he has wondered how different things would be if he went to NU and not Stanford...you end up basically picking the job you want in the state.

  36. I like how they do it today. If a walkon becomes a starter or earns his way into the regular playing rotation then he earns a 'ship for that year or the next depending upon current numbers. If it's available for that season give it to them, if not plan it in for the next cycle. Don't want to make it too complicated. Hurts to lose Forbes but I think it also says how strong the OL is getting. Also speaks to the body type they are ultimately looking for.

  39. Danny, you had a great list. We have Oklahoma's largest bookstore (used or new) about 6 miles down the road from where I live. I have built a good hunk of my library from this used bookstore - either paying cash or using 'trade in ' credit. My wife keeps telling me I need to 'thin the herd' but I resist. Never know when I might want to re-read them. Besides, I'm nearing retirement(5 years) and I need some good reading material in retirement too. So I'm saving up for then. Yes, very interesting book and of course family

  41. I highly doubt JD is coming back and I will also say that the team will be better off for it. That dunk by CJ there is pretty good. I’m not happy to hear what he has to say, but the truth stings and needs to be said. I don’t think his son said anything terrible, it’s a unique situation given the circumstances, but that is locker room material for when kids line up against him - this fall even - and when he’s at Iowa.

  43. I agree with you, i'm majorly disappointed so far. He largely swung and missed last class. He identified Cali/West Coast targets and put in a lot of effort without signing a single one. Thank goodness we had Nash on board and Beckon's Georgia connections for the two HS kids we signed. Because otherwise we were scrambling to plug holes with JUCOs come late fall.
