Well a triangle is well known code for a three-way. And the fella to the right appears to be watching it thru a screen door. But I don't want to know where the elephant enters into this.

Cool, definitely let us know how things shake out.

  2. I have been watching a ton of tape over the last few months. I think calling Nebraska's D horrible or abysmal is a gross overstatement, and it doesn't really explain why we lost 8 games. Despite not having a true nose, good safeties, and starting the best catch tackler/ most underwhelming 4 year starter in Nebraska history (D.Young); they didn't get a ton of help from the Offense when it mattered. Our Offense was so boom or bust, but mostly bust. There are so many quarters where the Offense did not put up points. If Nebraska is able to just eliminate scoreless halves and quarters, it changes everything. Let alone a decent jump on D would make Nebraska more than formidable. They could contend for the conference rather easily.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the D was good by any stretch, but I see plenty of moments where they held their own, and Nebraska's O let them down. You can see it all over the Wisconsin game.

      Mavric

Pretty much agree @Vince R..  I would say the other thing to keep in mind was there was not only decent improvement as the season went along but we made significant improvements from the prior year.  Granted, it was going from horrendous to kind of bad but that's significant progress in the right direction.  If we make another decent jump like that we'll be in pretty good shape for this year.

    4. Danimal

      Danimal

Big thing is improving on 3rd-downs, so many times we had two good plays then blew it on 3rd-and long. Being able to field a bigger/stronger  legit 3-4 d-line that can rotate should help a lot. Should be able to rotate at LB more too. Pro day showed how slow our safeties were, losing experience but gaining athleticism.  Corner developed considerably over the course of last season. Not expecting big things but we should give up one less score a game and force some turnovers.

Good coaches know how to build a culture/system, ID & recruit the right talent to make the system work and ultimately succeed with that system.

They also know how to adapt their system to fit the talent they currently have available and still succeed.

Frost has shown he can do the former. He's got a lot to prove regarding the latter.

    4. NoLongerN

      NoLongerN

Sadly, the phrase by Coach Frost, "We all know where this is going", isn't going to hold any weight going forward.  Time to "put up or shut up."  I'm with @Vince R. feelings.  Unfortunately, there is no momentum at all.  We should all probably be grateful we hold on to the 4 star commits we have.  Outside of landing Manning and Johnson, there really isn't a potential recruit that I salivate in bringing into the program ... my spirit says, "meow" to most.  I guess that is what it should feel like after 5-7.  Can't imagine how those of you feel who thought we would be better than 7-5.  You have to feel really sick to your stomach.

  6. I want to throw a name out there that I believe will make a big leap for next year and thats Kevin Maurice. Also for everyone wanting Stanton, I only see Tommy getting much better from here.

  7. I'm not saying that Tommy is the savior and will be the next greatest qb at Nebraska but hating on him or saying he's not the answer at this point of his career makes you an idiot. Yeah I said it.

I'd love it if they redshirted DPE and gave Spielman the keys. 2 more years with a healthy DPE would be deadly.

    4. swmohusker

      swmohusker

Dont think you RS DPE unless absolutely necessary. He is an awesome talent, but if we land guys like Calvin and Lindsay in addition to Spielman we will have a bevy of those types of athletes to attack the defense. As long as Williams is out recruiting we should have a stable of athletes

That was one of the issues. Since I'm in CA, specific courses are different, either in the way they are counted or in their description. I applied to the UC system (UCLA, UC-Irvine, UC Berkeley, Etc) which I qualified for. I explained that and was told to apply. I've taken roughly 12-15 units towards my major already.

    3. ZRod

      ZRod

Well, you never really know with bureaucracies, but if you have a decent GPA and there is room in the major I would think you should get admitted.

      Vince R.

I called them and they said they would refer me to an admissions officer. I guess he or she was busy so I left a message. Is this how UNL tells you no? haha

  18. Nebraska is always at a disadvantage when it comes to preparation. Opposing defenses do not have to respect the pass. Do you know how hard that is for a staff? Nebraska needs to score on Lee. The woes on Offense will disappear (stay healthy) if Nebraska has a guy who can sling. Then the D won't have to hold teams to 3 to win.

NUance, I agree but our O is predicated on that feature right now. We have to move away from that and have someone who can beat any D with his arm.

    3. NUance

      NUance

Agreed. We were helpless on O today with Tommy hobbling around. We would have been better if he was healthy, but not sure we'd beat the Hawkeyes.

      Quote

Henderson told Rivals.com Midwest Recruiting Expert Josh Helmholdt that, "We still have all due respect for Minnesota and the coaching staff. The recruits there are still like my brothers, but this was something we both decided would be best for me and them going forward. They will definitely still be an option for me. They’re just trying to see how this senior year goes grade-wise.”
